This is one of hte reasons why I do wish we had conservatives here every once in a while, as much as it would also suck lol. As much as we like to do the whole intra-left circular firiing squad stuff here for various reasons, still gotta contend with like 40-45% of the country that still has conservative beliefs, being able to engage in thought about why they are wrong and articulating that is always helpful.

A long long time ago like around 2016 there were some conservatives here but a lot of left folks here wanted the Gen pol thread to be a safe space or something so they were shouted out.

It's not as though this website is free of them ofc. Twoish years ago I posted that I'm basically suspicious of white peoples intentions when they listen to music by black artists (started from a discussion on turnstile I think). This was in the unpopular music opinions thread. Some of the responses were absolute gold but nothing beat folks posting memes mocking Malcom x.

I don’t do a ton outside of this thread anymore besides follow some musician threads I like so I get updates on new music, but I’m just saying many of the guys i knew who were suburban pop punk kids did not grow up to have awesome politics lol so i imagine there’s plenty of conservatives on here somewhere. Got enough conservatives in my life, so i never feel like I need them in here.
