    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I thought they did some international dates in 2023 but I could be wrong

I do feel they will play very few shows going forward, maybe just 1 or 2 festivals each year and thats it

I just got home yesterday at 5 pm & I'm still not a person, I'm hoping I will be tomorrow when I wake up. I'll add some pics/videos in here this evening, & do a more in depth review of the whole thing

They didn't play Finding Home, & that was largely the reason I watched their set, it really bummed me out.

A few people have said it in here as well, but I loved the minimal production (but I can def see how it might be a boring show if you're a casual fan)!! One thing I thought was crazy to see was how fast the crowd dissipated after they played The Black Parade (5th song). I was able to watch the rest of their set at 11 pm closer than I was for Neck Deep at 11:30 am

For FOB, after the Infinity on High songs, I got SUPER bored & left

There were some sets that I was able to get SUPER close for in VIP and others that is wasn't even worth trying. I'm so grateful that the weather was what it was, I was pretty hot the 2nd day & can't imagine what it would've felt like if it was 20 degrees warmer

It definitely does look super packed in, but when you're in it, it's kind of surprising how much room you can have around you despite knowing what it looks like from a few hundred feet up. I was definitely worried about being in the huge crowds prior to going because of pics/videos like that, but it really wasn't bad. I was nowhere near the barricade but also nowhere near the back of the crowd

It was also super easy to move aroubd the crowd most of the time. I managed to get barricade for Senses Fail, TDWP and Movements just by waiting 1 band before and moving your way to the front, most of the time you could ask and people will let you walk in to the front. Definetly not for the main stages, but still managed to grab a good spot for MCR both days on GA and VIP

For those that did the survey: what bands did you put in your list of who you’d want on future line-ups?

    Mine:

    -blink-182
    -Alexisonfire
    -Paramore
    -Yellowcard
    -Echosmith
    -The Story So Far
    -Hellogoodbye
    -Glassjaw
    -The Fall of Troy
-I Set My Friends on Fire

EDIT: I SHOULD’VE FUCKIN INCLUDED MAN OVERBOARD!

When did the 2024 lineup get announced last year? I feel like it was before November.

What survey? Mine would be Blink 182, Thrice, Mcr (if system of a down can play back to back snw i'm putting them down) The dillinger escape plan ( only if they can get Greg and Ben to both do it) Etid ( I wish) i'm surprised Alexisonfire hasn't done it.

A bunch of us attendees received an e-mail asking for feedback about the festival and other things related to it. Check the e-mail address you used to buy your ticket (if you attended).

So, funny enough, this has already been done. Back in 2012, Art Alexakis from Everclear and Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray started The Summerland Tour with Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit and Marcy Playground, playing like 6,000-cap amphitheaters. I went that first year and it ruled. It continued in various iterations with a revolving door of bands like Filter, Local H, Sponge, Soul Asylum, Spacehog, Fuel, Toadies, etc., for almost a decace, getting smaller each year until it ended in 1,000-cap clubs. The year after the first Summerland, McGrath and Alexakis split and McGrath started his own version, called Under The Sun, and it also had all the heavy hitters from the era - Eve 6, Better Than Ezra, Tonic, Smash Mouth, Blues Traveler, Uncle Kracker, etc. It too fizzled. It is funny how these 90s bands sporadically pop up on bigger festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Stagecoach and the like, but that lane of 90s pop-rock just hasn't been able to harness their appeal into something like When We Were Young. Interestingly, McGrath has said recently - I believe on No Jumper - that he thought they were way too early with Summerland and Under The Sun, and has also wondered why no one has been able to get this right with that scene.

last sentence says it all to me. Was that a ‘scene’ or was it popular on radio only? Was there a groundswell of support with these artists in their early years? I think that’s part of why WWWY works - ethos of a underground scene

I still wish I know the specifics of what their deal was. Considering every other band was able to make it work, and most played albums (I consider moving hits to the end and skipping interludes as counting), I'd love to know if they had a real grievance or just threw a tantrum.

It was tough sledding with who they went up against (LA Dispute and senses fail right after and dashboard / pierce the veil during) but Glassjaw played 2022 and had the smallest crowd that I have personally seen at the fest in all 3 years. Great show, I was hyped to see them, but the crowd was tiny tiny.

A friend of mine mentioned that they went live on IG during the weekend and mentioned that originally they were told to prepare a show for a night slot, and they did prepared a big production for it, and then suddenly they changed their scheduled time for the afternoon. Something along those lines

Had I been there, I probably would’ve opted for La Dispute myself. Sucks they had such a small crowd.
