    hmmm

I really like Nicolas Jaar but I don't think I've ever listened to his Against All Logic project. Looking forward to it.

  3. Oh fuuuuck yeah. Love this record. Shouts Sophos for introducing me to Space is Only Noise around when it came out. Nico's Darkside project with Dave Harrington is great too - and Harrington is putting out a ton of experimental/jazz stuff lately as well. Oh and playing in a jam band lol.

Thanks everyone for giving the Kathleen Edwards record a listen. Glad so many of you seemed to enjoy it.

Failer is definitely the other essential record of hers, but all her stuff is worth a listen if you enjoyed this. My next favorite after that is probably Total Freedom, which is actually the follow up to Voyageur, even though it came out eight years later.

Did we lose @angrycandy? Miss your contributions

also honestly glad that this breaks a little over an hour. I appreciate everyone being thoughtful with picking shorter albums but I’ve been wanting something to sink my teeth into, to immerse myself in. After all this seems like the thread to share longer, perhaps more challenging—but equally interesting—stuff that lends itself to discussion.

This Against All Logic album started off a bit rocky for me but it really got going as it went on. Pretty great stuff on here. Think the early standouts for me are Know You and the last 4 tracks

I’m not super into house (is that what this is?) but I agree, some good grooves on this. I also really like the album art

also not super knowledgable with dance genres but house sounds right. I personally am more into the weird, textural shit when it comes to non-ambient electronic/“dance” music - IDM, dub, some techno, 80-90s shit etc- but I enjoy a little bit of everything. the samples on this are fun and it put me in a good mood.

some older fantastic "house" albums worth your time

  16. This style of dance music has never been my thing, so this album isn't really hitting for me, unfortunately. The electronic stuff I've enjoyed tends to be more in the ambient or experimental areas.

This isn't unpleasant by any means, just not something I'll probably jump to return to.

  17. This was a relisten for me but it'd been a while, this isn't a kind of music I actively seek out but I feel like Nicolas Jaar really does make an enjoyable version of it (head-bobbing dance music is what I'm gonna call it). I might also be a little biased because I like his solo non-AAL stuff too, which might be more your jam @troyplaysbass

It's really well put together — like genuinely impressive how well he forms that tapestry from the array of sample fabrics. I'm not entranced by it after multiple listens although I wouldn't be surprised if I were to revisit and suddenly find I was.

Cenizas is my favourite of his solo works; a beautiful abyss.

I want to give this another listen. The only time I was able to listen was in background while I was focusing on some other tasks. It kept me in the zone though and I never wanted to skip anything.
