I think people just have a distaste for Ubisoft. Metroidvanias still thriving

Playing the SaGa 2 demo, I do love the idea of creating builds from what abilities/weapons you use most often from your characters. It makes every single turn feel like it's productive.

Back to actually playing games. Just picked up this game on sale for $3 and got all the achievements in less than 2 minutes. Basically a really cheap VS clone but with guns.

 

I haven't watched any of his other stuff but I love For All Mankind on AppleTV+. Will be interested to see if they get this off the ground and actually start production or not.

 

Finished the second dungeon in Metaphor and just arrived at the new city. Game reminds me of FFX in a lot of aspects which is probably why I’m connecting so much with it.

 

I don't know if I agree with you about there not being a big market, but I do agree that the market is probably oversaturated.

I think a lot of that has to do with how big the game development market is nowadays. Digital delivery helped foster a renaissance in indie development and Metroidvania is a handy go-to genre, especially for people trying to make something retro.

I don't know. Certainly the average gamer just isn't going to have the income or time investment to be able to sustain all these games vying for attention, but I do like that the genre continues to thrive.

I do think you are absolutely right about people being more interested in Sands Of Time than Prince Of Persia, and I think Ubisoft must realize that, or they wouldn't be the way they are about the remake they've been trying to get off the ground.

 

I do like that a lot of them come to services like GamePass and PS+ but I agree the market is over saturated

 

there's literally a new Metroidvania out today but I bet you couldn't pick it out of a line up if I put it next to Ender Lillies and Afterimage.

got a new party member in Metaphor that might be one of my new favorite characters in a game. really loving how this story is building out.

 

I am back to having a really good time with Metaphor too. My party is only 5 people so far, very curious who's about to join.

I thought it was okay. Agree on the combat feeling weird. To me it didn't feel like there was any weight behind my swings and the feedback when you take damage also felt weird. I remember enjoying exploring, though. I'd say it's worth picking up on sale

 

It is $25 now. I will put it on my wish list and wait for a sale.
