my wife’s 2010 accord failed inspection bc it’s brakes so i think we’re gonna lease a new car instead of pay a bunch to replace the brakes just to get a new car in a year probably anyways

thinking a honda pilot. basically a 3 row SUV or minivan

How many miles on the accord and how much to replace the brakes, is it just the pads or does it need rotors and/or brake line maintenance too

I don’t Pho often. Think I’ve only done Glendale Pho Co and Pho Hut, when I lived over there. Would suggest Glendale Pho Co but not enough to go out of your way.

So looking back, here’s who helped me with my Jax show

-my close friend Rene lent me a car and gave me a place to crash
-my friend Danny lent me an amp
-my friend Mack learned my songs on drums well enough to keep up with me live and was able to read my body language for cues
-my friend Andrea’s boyfriend let me and Mack practice in his garage before the show

14 people total also bought Terrain shirts to finance the trip even though half of those folks couldnt come to the show, this paid for both train trips and most of the food and because of Rene I had no hotel or rental car expenses

I have such a great support network in Jacksonville despite not living there since 2019, I feel so cared about

Especially can't believe Rene lent me her car, I didn't even ask. I told her I just needed a ride to Avis to pick up my rental and she was like "wtf dude cancel that just use my Elantra" and despite my protests she was like "how many times did you drive me whereever i needed to go when we lived together and I didn't have jack shit? Borrow my car you deserve it"

that's just a solid ass friendship i have with her, man. Got to meet her daughter too, she even learned how to say Uncle Randy :verysad::heart:

like 142k. just brake pads but between the replacement and then the registration we’re basically at 1/4 of the down payment we’d be making in a year anyways for a car that is old and crappy anyways

    Other things:

    1) Huge swaths of Jacksonville are actually really adorable houses with awesome yards set up for outdoor activities. the suburbs are boring and plastic as fuck and parts of the city are trash (particularly the ghettoes on the north side of downtown, the outer west suburbs, and the Regency area me and Matt worked in) but everything by the water is nice and there's a lot of water.

I genuinely do think Jax just has a shitty downtown and that's the first thing anyone sees so it gets a bad rap due to that. But Riverside, Avondale, Murray Hill, San Marco, Springfield, & the south side of Arlington are basically all their own "cute southern town" and if you go into Jax expecting "a handful of quaint, pretty towns conglomerated into a city" rather than one centralized major city, it delivers.

I went to a few parks I'd never went to that were excellent, I also went to the cultural-center areas I used to spend a lot of time in and they really do have some nice, unique bars/restaurants and shops - it's more so the people who go there on weekends that ruin those places and make them get really old lol. Then Florida Man culture comes out and you got this weird mix of boat shoe bros and crusty leather jacket tattoo punks who both pretend they're there for the culture and the art but really they're looking for cocaine and someone random to fuck.

    2) went to Zaxby's again, glory hallelujah that place still the GOAT for fast food chicken tenders. and my bread was NOT wet because I ordered everything separately and not as a meal, @CarpetElf lol. IT was smarter to just split 10 chicken tenders, one order of fries and one large sweet tea with Rene, cost wise. Zaxby's HAS doubled in price since pre-pandemic.

Compared to other Florida, Jax's St. John's River watershed is really lush and green and filled with diverse trees. It's got a nice mix of tropical stuff, Savannah/Charleston style mossy oaks, and more temperate trees like maple trees mixed in with the typical Florida pine forest landscape. Like, I dislike most of north Florida's nature cause it's just the same pine tree over and over on flat swamps, and the suburb of Jax I grew up in (Orange Park / Middleburg area) was a lot more like that + chain restaurants, but the parts of central Jacksonville that are near the river have great nature around and a lot more locally owned business and activity.
