AW2 is one of my all time favorites. The gameplay could be tedious, but the story and presentation are amazing. It’s Twin Peaks: the Game.

downloaded black ops 6 so I’m prepared to delete within a week

 

I've barely played any SaGa games and didn't enjoy the one I played (I believe it was 3)

Gonna try the SaGa 2 demo and see if it connects. I'm totally open to the series, I want to see why people love it, just haven't been able to make the connection yet.

 

To me, and this is just from my experience with Saga Frontier, but the hook and the flaw in the series is the amount of freedom the games give you to pursue what interests you.

Character storylines can either be dense and linear or be extremely skeletal and freeform. It's not always clear what to do because so much is optional.

 

Yeah I feel like i'm more open minded about the openness of the game now then I was years ago when I tried it. It looks like this new one coming out has some QoL updates that make it a decent bit more newcomer friendly.

 

Wow the YS X demo is 6-8 hours long

Game looks so good. Not only does it have QoL compared to the original but more than just a HD remake from sprite age, it includes brand new story content never available before. So it's quite the package. Looking forward to playing it! .......eventually lol. It's definitely going on backlog as in finishing eiyuden before veilguard at the end of the month.

The only thing they did was literally jute some big names...maybe they tried working on stuff but nothing ever came of it. Crazy.

 

Played like 6 hours yesterday since I missed work with the flu. I was fucking dreaming about grinding archetypes last night lol

 

I can't wait to play Metaphor. Whenever I finish Disco Elysium and Persona 4 it's my next game.

 

Been on such a wild souls kick this year. Platinumed Elden Ring and then did the DLC when it came out, then did the DS trilogy, then Bloodborne. I really feel like I should take a break on them so I don't burn myself out but I have copies of Demon's Souls and Lies of P on my shelf right now that are calling to me like the green goblin mask

 

I'm the opposite where I'm having soulslike burnout at the moment

My kid did just beat Sekiro though

Lies Of P has a similar emphasis on parrying (but with different timing so I don't think one prepares you for the other really) so it's good to develop

I was the opposite and started with Sekiro and had to learn to dodge over parry when I started playing through the Souls series haha, it made Bloodborne ridiculously easy though

 

Yeah it sort of felt like BB was in the middle - you could do a bit of dodging AND parrying depending on the boss, etc. The parrying did feel pretty comfy in that game once I got the hang of it so maybe that will also help me down the line haha

 

Bro theres parrying in Ys X and I am STOKED ON THAT

 

I'm not good at parrying at all. I had to play Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice on easy and I still kept dying. Hollow Knight and Blasphemous were really frustrating

 

I can't parry for shit in Hollow Knight

In Blasphemous II I could but I rarely did

 

I’m not sure I’ve ever tried to parry in Hollow Knight and I’ve been through that game four times lmao is there really a way to parry in that game?? Loved blasphemous too but definitely found myself jumping/dodging more than parrying

 

A simultaneous attack when an enemy attacks is like a parry, if I ever do it it's on accident haha you'll hear a lil "clink"

Similar to the pogo bounces off spikes

 

I'm pretty sure the option is there. Even Dead Cells has it. Not required to beat the game tho apparently

 

yeah the beauty of Lies of P is that it doesn't really force you to do anything, you can largely play it in any way that you want.

 

Yeah the parrying helps just because weapon breaks are BIG for letting you take a bunch of hits but I mean consumable spam is effective too and not getting hit lets you survive pretty well too just by dodging haha

It's a versatile game for sure
