It's so sad the way our country takes care of our Veterans, I j read that more are committing suicide than dying in combat. So sad. None of those kids have any fucking idea what they're getting into

 

Already seeing some of my "progressive" friends who had supported Sanders or voted Clinton starting to normalize Trump and I am throwing up inside. I've been calling it out, but I don't think it's enough.

 

So some guy came into where I work tonight. Trump was on the tv and he said: "I'm with it. I mean, we can't have a woman as president. it's bad enough we got them to vote. They don't know anything". Before he walked out the door he said "Make America white again". He was totally 100% serious and it was honestly scary.

Agreed and also still crying my face off because I hit a lull in my anger this evening and finally sat down at the piano for the first time in months, and then saw this. Just...gone. I also get weirdly emotional about finding out people I didn't know could sing can sing. Idk what that is.

We are far from prepared for that. Keep protesting everyone, but we really, really need to work on outreach strategies. I've tried a couple times to get people to stop using guilt to get all protesters to recruit everyone they can downtown in Chi this weekend. Remember what we're protesting. Many among us are likely to be targets of violence if we say too much in the presence of the wrong people. At the very least we should be urging people never to recruit alone unless they are comfortable. Leaders in the group know this and are spreading the message as much as they can, but it's really hard to get everyone on the same page.

 

this this this. no idea why jason is being so condescending when this is really important. as a queer person myself i feel the same way. maybe im wrong in that, but its still bothersome. makes this site feel less like a safe space that i want it to be and need it to be.

 

As far as I saw though he was just saying who he'll personally choose to listen to or not - honestly didn't notice anything that I thought came across as condescending

 

its the insinuation that Spencer isnt listening and the determination to amplify the voice of someone whos known to be misogynistic and homophobic that comes across that way. im just saying, as a queer person that makes me reeeeeeeeeal uncomfortable. but then again a lot of things that happen on this site do and thats more a Ken issue than a site issue since im a real sensitive punk.

Saying I personally choose to read and listen to black voices on issues even though I disagree with their thoughts on other items is not condescending. It's how I feel. You can do what you'd like to. I am not gonI don't always agree with things other people post or the people they "amplify" (RTs are not endorsements) or the ideas within them, and I'll usually say so when I see them. And I'm not gonna share sexist posts, but if I see someone that I think is making a point that is worth paying attention to, I am gonna listen to it and take it in and think about it. Dom has talked about sexism and homophobia in, specifically, black male culture for a long time. It exists. It is something I think we all know is bad, but that doesn't mean that I am gonna ignore what they say about what candidates they want to represent them and why.
