I'm really excited to hear everyone elses thoughts on this. New York might be my favourite song Charlies done since Young Pilgrim.

No worries! I write for a couple music sites so I might try to get a review copy as well, but I'm in the States and their audience here isn't that big. Not even sure who to contact tbh.

I've been trying not to talk about this album too much on here just out of courtesy to those who are waiting, but I just have to say I've come to the conclusion that "New York" is the best track they've ever written. It's enormous.

 

I don't want to a leak. Or a stream. Or even a listen. Happy to wait til Friday week. But just curious to how you've all heard. Or are you guys working in industries where you've been able to hear it

 

I'm at this point too. It's hard to really say since I have so much nostalgia attached to APFE but it really is a masterful song.

Oh, I'm properly excited now! Great to see such positive reactions so far - does the album feel cohesive as a listening experience? Think I might head over to HMV Leeds on the 25th to get a signed copy (sadly they're not going to Manchester).

Interested to see what the critical response is - Busted were never shat on by the press, just generally received middling reviews.

 

I think it works very well as an album, I think the pre release tracks work better as part of the album. I like Coming Home way more as an intro to what comes after than I did as a single song. There's also a very coherent vibe throughout although it's still diverse enough to keep things interesting.

 

I need to steal this comparison for my feature piece because it's actually so true!

Definitely cohesive, which is a testament to both the band and the sequencing. James wasn't kidding when he mentioned that no two tracks sound the same, so to get the album feeling as cohesive as it does is a huge achievement.

Plus for an album that's a touch over forty minutes long, it's over before you know it. You're not ready for it to end, it makes you yearn for more and I think that's always a really positive sign.

 

I want the bonus track. Cuz I'm greedy.

 

need this so so so bad, glad to hear positive things though. can't believe the wait is nearly over!
