Mike commented in an AMA that they signed on to play before they were told about the album theme and they were told, not asked to do plagues. They are going to play it, but I’m sure most bands were signed on and then told the album theme and what album they were gonna do.

That’s odd as I know they rehearsed it.

I’ve seen Cartel, Underoath, The Forecast, Thursday and Tonight Alive so far and their sets were all album songs except the last song from Underoath (Writing on the Wall) and I think Tonight Alive. They’re not all playing their albums in their entirety depending on their set time of course.

I think coheed ending up playing all of IV except the final cuts (could be wrong) and added couple of others

I’d be pissed if I paid to go to this and bands were not playing the album’s that the festival promoted. That was literally the main thing that convinced a lot of people to attend.

I don’t blame the bands though, that’s on the festival for promoting/promising things without having crystal clear agreements with the bands. I am surprised that this didn’t become apparent sooner considering the festival has been announced for a year.

Gabe stopped Cobra’s set two songs in and was like, “Oh shit! We’re playing the wrong album!” Then they all switched into purple hoodies and started playing songs from Viva la Cobra. Pretty funny.

Simple Plan didn't play the whole album but did a medley of a bunch of the deep cuts on that album

Sounds like Patrick Stump was having a good ol time jumping set to set, he performed with Motion City and Cobra both

John // OC now, OH forever.

It’s just the one girl in the group who’s always been there (Melissa) and Andy’s wife Meredith now, which is weird to me because it was Melissa and her sister plus the third girl.

MCR’s production sucks and (as someone who doesn’t care for the album) is boring. Don’t like most of FOB but at least it was a *show*

    Newbie

Just got back to the hotel, did side stages all day and ended up seeing anywhere from 10-35min of…

Alesana - not familiar enough to say if they did their playthrough but still sounded great and drew a big crowd. Was surprised with how many Alesana shirts we saw

Emery - sounded real good, haven’t seen them as a full band in a decade. They kept Walls for the last song but did the playthrough

Tonight Alive - I believe did the playthrough but only caught part of their set

Cartel - sounded fantastic, did the playthrough

Anberlin - arrives late to them playing a newer song. Then Matty introduced Stephen as a surprise guest who did some older songs but I don’t recall if it was all off NTFP or not. Either way, an upgrade which Matty acknowledged by saying “here’s the man we know you’d rather see…”

We Are the In Crowd - sounded fine and did the album playthrough

We the Kings - didn’t sound great which I presume was an audio issue. We didn’t stick around long

Saosin - only stopped by for the middle of the set. Sounded fine. I believe they were doing the playthrough

TDWP - sounded fantastic. Even the Mrs., who doesn’t care for anything “hard”, has mentioned multiple times how they stood out as having one of the best sets of the day. Crowd loved it and I believe they did the playthrough

3oh!3 - only caught a few songs but played with a live band as opposed to using computer backing the other night. This sounded better

Story of the Year - sounded great. Crowd knew the hits but not much else. Did the album playthrough

Saves the Day - heard the first two songs and left. They sounded better than I recall in years past but had to get to FYS

Four Year Strong - absolutely tore it up and sounded great. I didn’t catch the whole set but when I left they’d skipped Wasting Time, and were also playing a new song fwiw

Senses Fail - I believe did the playthrough, had a great set, sounded good. Buddy ripped into All American Rejects throughout the set and even covered an AAR song for a minute

The Maine - did fine all things considered with John’s charisma carrying the load. The crowd just really didn’t seem to be into CSWS but they played the album regardless

The Wonder Years - only caught two songs as I’m seeing them Thursday. They didn’t draw as large of a crowd as I’d expected. Had to stop Raindance in Traffic due to a medical issue. It was LOUD in the tent for their set. Did the playthrough

The Starting Line - sounded great, did the playthrough (I think)

Silverstein - Sounded great. Drew one of the bigger crowds on the Allianz stage. Shane noted that their punk stage was sponsored by a travel company. He noted that he heard Senses Fail make fun of AAR, and loved that. He also asked the crowd if other artists were playing their albums or not, then said something about it being against the rules not to play the albums promoted…

Motion City Soundtrack - Did the album playthrough. Sounded good, crowd went nuts for LGGUAD, which was also dedicated to a super fan that recently died.

August Burns Red - saw one song. Sounded good

Bayside - sounded fantastic. Did the album playthrough

Chiodos - Played Undertaker’s Thirst for Revenge, a DRUGS song, and then a handful from All’s Well. Sounded great and drew a larger than expected crowd

New Found Glory - played Sticks & Stones plus their Little Mermaid cover. No Chad

Boys Like Girls - sounded absolute killer. Did a greatest hits set but the crowd was dying down as folks headed to the main stage

Overall, a good day. Entry was easier than every year prior. Festival merch was pretty much always a slight wait but Artist merch never had less than a few hundred people in line. Absolutely absurd

My wife and I also couldn’t believe how few FOB merch we saw. In order, festival merch was most common, followed by ADTR, Blink 182, My Chem, and probably a MASSIVE drop off to #5, being FOB or maybe the Used.

    doing main stages tomorrow

I wanted more from MCR’s presentation but just being able to see them perform TBP was awesome. FOB’s set is insane in person. Wiz was a nice little surprise.

had a great time. favorite sets were silverstein, boys like girls, we the kings, and the maine. hey monday was disappointing and i have some thoughts about that.

mcr was great but i felt like they probably wanted to play a set they wrote and would’ve preferred that. their set in 2022 changed my life.

lastly wwwy needs to staff their medical tents with not exclusively men. someone tried to grope me during soty and i walked to two diff. medical tents looking for a woman to talk to before deciding watching saves the day would make me feel better than walking to a third medical tent with no women staffers.

Out of all the sets I saw only 2 bands that actually did a full album play through of all songs on the album

    I saw
Tonight Alive (left a few early so I couldn’t tell if they did the full album)
Mayday Parade (all but one song, skipped Ocean & Atlantic)
We Are the In Crowd (skipped 4 songs from the album but did 2 from a different album)
TDWP (had to cut 2 songs from the album)
State Champs (actually did a full play through)
Cobra (did a mix of all albums and did not even come close to a full viva play through)
The Wonder Years (all but one song, cut We Could Die Like This)
Movements (all but one song, cut fever dream)
Chiodos (only did 5 songs from alls well and then did 2 from bone palace and then a DRUGS song which was originally an old Chiodos demo)
Hey Monday (all but 1 song, didn’t do 6 months)
Fall Out Boy (was fall out boy)
    MCR (full playthrough)

I had a lot of fun but boy was it upsetting to go to a festival that’s being advertised as albums plays and only see…2 complete album plays LOL

Had an amazing time yesterday. Saw:

Daisy Grenade - As always they put on a fun show. Definitely seemed like they were constantly on the verge of a iem pack/wardrobe malfunction, but they had so much energy regardless.

Neck Deep - They had to cut the last song of their set "Rock Bottom" due to time, but they were so much fun and the crowd energy was palpable.

Mayday Parade - They cut the bridge of "When I Get Home You're So Dead" which was a bummer. Otherwise they did a great job!

We Are The In Crowd - They really surpassed my expectations! Great energy and all-around good vibes.

TDWP - I didn't really know their album super well but they had one of the rowdiest crowds of the day! Tons of fun.

State Champs - Did the full album play with minimal breaks between songs. Definitely one of the standout sets!

Four Year Strong - Did the full album minus "This Body Pays The Bills" which they repleaced with "uncooked" from the new album. As always, they were very tight performers.

The Maine - They skipped a couple of the middle tracks to make room for "Loved You A Little" & "Black Butterflies" but honestly I don't think anyone really cared or noticed haha. John is one of the best frontmen in the scene and the energy during their set was overwhelmingly positive.

Silverstein - far and away the best set of the day. All the guys had so much energy, and Shane sounded better than ever. They only played the opening riff to "Three Hours Back" before skipping to "Call It Karma" but then they added in "Bleeds No More" which was super fun.

Hawthorne Heights - very unfamiliar with this album, but they were tons of fun and JT spoke alot about how gracious and proud he was to be a part of this scene and community. "Ohio" & "Niki FM" were huge singalongs.

Dance Gavin Dance - They played a mix of deep,-cuts from DBM I&II. Andrew sounded incredible on these songs, and of course the band was tight as ever. Had to miss the last handful of songs, but had a good time regardless.

Fall Out Boy - My feet hurt so much by the time they went on it was super hard to focus on the music. Nevertheless their set was so much fun, they played GINASFS and I lost my mind. It was a great time and I'm stoked to see them again today!

The Paradox - So I had no idea Paradox were those kids that went viral on social media a few months ago. Really energetic guys, mix of original songs with NOFX and Green Day covers.

The Forecast - They played about six songs from the album since they had a short set. They sounded amazing and I’m so happy I finally got to see them.

Tonight Alive - Mixing was a little off. They did several album songs and one or two extra songs. Jenna sounded really good and looked incredibly happy to be there.

Cartel - Played most of Chroma. One of my favorite albums and it was great. They announced that they’re re-recording it for its 20th anniversary next year.

Underoath - Caught part of the set only but they sounded pretty good from the food vendors. I think they played all of TOCS with Writing on the Walls as the closer.

Thursday - I think they only left out one or two songs from Full Collapse, not including the intro and outro tracks. I had never seen them before either and they delivered.

Saves the Day - Caught At Your Funeral before heading out to Four Year Strong. Band sounded good.

Four Year Strong - Solid as always. They were the only band I caught at Verizon.

The Starting Line - Only caught part of the set as I headed out to the main stages. The vocal mix was a little too high but they were great.

Taking Back Sunday - Adam sounded bad BUT not as bad on some songs. John’s voice is almost as shot. Would never pay to see them alone.

The Used - Not a fan so I was unfamiliar with most songs but they sounded good. They finished the album and closed with The Taste of Ink but got cut short before it ended because they went over their time.

Pierce the Veil - Also not a fan but they were pretty good.

Jimmy Eat World - I love Bleed American and they were as great as always but songs like Cautioners and My Sundown don’t lend themselves much to this setting.

A Day to Remember - Played all of Homesick and were great. My legs and feet were REALLY starting to give out but I toughed it out.

Fall Out Boy - Was amazing to see all their stage pieces. They really need to chill with the fire. It was HOT. They cut Get Busy Living, Thriller, and Immortals for time. GINASFS was the second magic 8 ball after See You Again with Wiz.

My Chemical Romance - The mix was off here. The guitars definitely should have been louder but they still sounded very tight. Gerard is hilarious and sounded as good as he can but I get the feeling they would have rather performed their own set rather than just TBP and the two singles.

All in all, I had a great day. Super tired and in pain but I was lucky to not catch any incidents and everyone around me was pretty cool and respectful of boundaries. They really have to do something about VIP purple stage though. Pink stage was easy to get through, purple was not. I couldn’t make it through by Taking Back Sunday with how crowded it was so I stayed in pink.

Back from the fest. Only saw Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance but I had a good time. The crowd energy died hard during the second half of FOB’s set but they killed it. The Black Parade was 90% the reason I bought tickets but FOB felt like a true headlining show and MCR was a little too bare bones after that, as good as they were
