I posted this on the streaming thread, but Paramount+ finally has a dedicated Star Trek content hub with a curated list of essential episodes.

 

That’s amazing. So many people want to get into the fandom and don’t know where to start. It can be…overwhelming.

started ds9 again. thoughts: give me all the sisko and quark and bashir you got. other characters? eh! they're ok

 

tbh Dax and Kira are in “okay” territory for me as well but Odo and Garak and Nog and Rom are top tier Trek characters, as of course are the TNG transplants

 

I do like me some Rom and Garak

 

Also Bashir is nothing without Garak. Their gay romance is the best thing about the show

 

conspicuously leaving out Odo…I get that he was a police officer for the space nazis but that was sooooo long ago

 

I think he has his moments but I don't get why everybody wants to fuck him. He looks like that!

…i was not aware that everyone wanted to fuck him. i just think it’s funny that he turns to goo and sleeps in a bucket

 

maybe it's just the later seasons but it feels like he's getting laid every other episode. there's the tension between him and kira which also just feels icky

also he feels really pliable morally, especially when the changelings show up. some of the most infuriating villains of all time popping into the station and going like oh isn't the link great Odo it's like youre coming all the time in 3000 different bodies yes we get it ewww

I don't get why they have to reference this stuff. just make him into an asexual oil man

 

oh on the show i thought you meant like fans. yeah that is not great but also star trek loves little more than a story about someone who appears human but is not discovering their humanity, see data most obviously. it is very funny when someone comes on to him and he does his little grunt and gets flustered. i don’t want to fuck odo though i promise

 

it's true. Voyager wasn't even content with the doctor playing that role and threw seven of nine in there too

 

Love interests are overrated, give me a terminally single character to represent my people.

 

I love the Bashir and O'Brien bromance

 

I saw someone once refers to Odo as "Goo Cop" and I can't refer to him as anything else now.

 

I just watched the episode where obrien's jealous of the neurodivergent genetically-enhanced crowd bashir's hanging out with so he pretends he needs to fix something in the room he's in just to hang out with him

SO CUTE

 

i am late to this but I don't know if I feel the vibes of that Section 31 teaser trailer. Don't really like the lighthearted James Gunn-esque tone with what is basically supposed to be a shady fascistist imperialist deep state organization.

I do like that they seem to be finally acknowledging that the shapeshifter species from Undiscovered Country is not the same as Changlings.

 

Odo is a real one for helping O'Brien steal a runabout to get his daughter away from the clutches of Starfleet institutional care

aww I just saw this episode! it was incredible. rip

 

I don't like that Starfleet Academy is going to take place within the Discovery timeline and be basically be a direct continuation of that, but all the casting coming out of it sounds promising.

 

…I didn’t know that. I wish it took place after Picard. The finale left so much opportunity for more projects.
