Didn’t realize the original Pulse is now on Max. Been wanting to see that for a while.

 

Pulse is great

 

I think that the character of Skye Riley needed to be the way she was tbh. Not sure if that can really speak to the likeable or unlikeable nature of her but in order to tell that story, I think it made sense. The paranoia, confusion, lashing out, hallucinations, etc. all overlap conveniently with her character struggling heavily with substance abuse in the past and lends itself to the plot. I won’t say more about that cause I don’t want to veer into spoilers territory but ultimately I just felt bad for the character. I do still think it was too long and that it relied way too heavily on cheap jump scares this time around. Also the line gets too blurry for me as the movie progresses with the whole reality vs. fabrication thing and I think that hurts it more than makes it compelling. I kinda wanna see it again though tbh.

 

yeah Pulse is an absolute classic

I think the jumpscares in 2 were a little much, but were balanced out nicely by the more creative stuff like the group dance evil smiling session in her apartment. one of my favourite scenes this year

 

Agreed on that scene in particular. Grade A stuff

I vaguely remember watching Pulse (American version) but remember very little about it and forgot it existed until they made fun of it in Forgetting Sarah Marshall lol. And at the time I didn’t realize she was actually the lead in pulse

 

I thought Skye was a great character to follow. More interesting than Rose was imo

 

finished the four available episodes of Teacup. kinda liking it less and less with each episode but I’m still holding out hope

 

For the record, I was referring to the OG Pulse, not the Kristen Bell Pulse

 

One thing that cracked me up and is so relatable is when the one homie has to agree to an long terms and conditions page before he can let the ghost software take over lol

 

Is there anything in Smile 2 like the ending creature design from the first one

 

Tonight I think I’ll do Behind the Mask which I’ve never seen. Google says it’s on Hulu/Peacock

 

I thought they were making fun of One Missed Call lol I just remember Russell Brand (ope) joking about killer cellphones

ooooh yeah it def might have been that one too, though I feel like they came out the same year? I just assumed it was about technology killing you and it reminded me of Pulse since I had watched that like years before haha. Then later on I found out Bell was the lead in Pulse so it made even more sense to me haha

 

Apparently it’s two different Behind the Mask films streaming on Hulu/Peacock….

Rewatched Abigail. I forgot how long it takes for it to get going but once it does I really do think it’s a blast.
