For me it was encountering hipsters again.

But I’ll have a more eloquent answer in the morning.

I only went to yesterdays show so obviously cannot compare to the show tonight but I was in the balcony and aside from one guy who was going a little too wild (he was standing up and jumping around when everyone else was sitting) I didn’t really think much of the crowd, everyone seemed pretty chill.

Also I honestly cannot believe that I saw MJ’s first Chicago show ever(?) pre-pandemic in someone’s basement in Logan Square to like 10-20 people max and now he’s where he is now.

Damn. SUV, Taste Just Like It Costs, Dan Marino, Knockin to end the set is like dream sequencing for me.

Hope that dude who was screaming SUV for the first half the set is happy.

Ok, so coming back to this...

It was vibes, kind of hard to explain. Last night there was excitement amongst people to get there and have a good time. Saw people excited to grab the rail. The first night - really felt like a lot of people who were there went simply to say that they did. There were fans, of course, but not as much as the first night.

I too like to go to a concert and look around and see who is a real fan and is enjoying the concert in a way I deem correct.

The only time I ever judge people at a concert is when they treat it like a night out and talk throughout the entire show (why spend the money to go to the show and not pay attention, just go to a regular bar) or are oblivious to their surroundings. Otherwise I don’t really care about how other people are taking in a show, especially since if the judgement is their level of excitement I would probably fall into the “Pitchforky” category since I don’t always show outward emotion to show my excitement at shows haha

Talking throughout a concert is not enjoying it so yes those people suck.

Oh don't worry, there was plenty of that on the floor night 1 as well.

only one thing got me about the crowd on night one. someone in front of me constantly head whipped/swayed way too hard, way too much, and always out of rhythm for every song.

It normally wouldn't bug me, but they were like physically "rocking out" to songs like TLC Cage Match, Rip Torn, and No Mercy in the same way they would during She's Leaving You or Tastes Just Like It Costs.

More funny and confusing than anything, but it was too distracting for me so I had to relocate.

night 2 was better than night 1 but both were great shows. he’s great. i was in the balcony both nights so didn’t really have many thoughts on the crowd. however one dude on night 1 kept clapping loudly and out of time during every single song and i wanted to kill him.

Were you in one of those balcony booths near stage by chance? I have tickets there for a show later this year and am wondering what I’m getting myself into

incredible show. so right and a ton of energy. was cool to still see in an intimate venue cause that probably isn't happening again!
