I have heard the whole song now and yeah the chorus is still pretty corny but it's not as jarring as the clip matty originally posted makes it sound. I'd say this is way more Octanecore than any of Erase Me was. I'll give it time to grow on me but for now I'm just kinda indifferent about it and I really hope these last two singles are them just trying to get the weirder shit out of the way first.

  2. just watched the video, was expecting something different based on comments

sounds like a mix of the last two albums

    dig it tbh

    Thoughts on Survivors Guilt:
    - chorus is unfortunately not great
    - last minute is VERY LITSOS and the best part of the song (in my opinion)

Ya the "guilt guilt guilt" part annoys me but the end is cool

I feel similar to how I felt about Teeth: some cool parts and the drums sound great but overall feels mixed in execution..

I hope these singles are outliers and not a representation of what the entire record will sound like.. but I have a feeling it is lol

  8. Uh okay I’m eating my words a little bit. This isn’t as radio rock as I expected and also much noisier overall, although part of the hook does still give me that vibe.

Pleased to hear it pushes the industrial vibes even further than they ever did before. It contains probably the weirdest riff Tim has ever written as well? The first teaser made me think it’d be a synth but between this and Let Go, he seems to be having a blast with the Digitech Whammy or whatever pedal he’s using here.

Echoing the praise for the Lost In The Sound sounding ending. It reminds me a lot of Anyone Can Dig a Hole’s second half, which is one of my favorite moments in their discography so this blew me away as well and I appreciated this little throwback.

  9. Wait wrong song, I mean A Fault Line, A Fault Of Mine’s second half.

  10. Love the palm muted guitar during the build up to the outro btw. I’ll always miss the kind of production they had pre-hiatus but at least the guitars hit much harder than they did on Voyeurist, which is partly why I often listen to the Digital Ghost version instead.

  11. This song is so weird in a completely different way than "Teeth" is weird and I am all in. Yeah the chorus feels weirdly poppy but if you really take in the whole song, it's kinda necessary to balance the chaos of that riff and the outro. The band feels like they could do anything right now, in a good way. Announce the record!

It’s better than Teeth but nothing I’d replay

I actually like the verses and I like the chorus but they should be two different songs

Someone else made this comment about "Teeth" and do some people just not like multiple musical ideas in their songs or something?

I don’t like them when they don’t work, no

That's pretty much what the other guy said too.

So I guess it just boils down to "I wish this song didn't have the parts I don't like". Which is fair.

Well, sure. I think it would be cool if the parts worked together. I think a band like letlive was really good at balancing pop and post hardcore in a unique way. I just don’t think this is and it’s a shame because the individual parts are good

So happy my expectations were low on this one. Actually don’t mind it at all. Bring on the new album.

The first clip I didn't like was easily the worst part of the song. The rest is pretty good.

    House of Protect Ron.

I dig it. I think the poppier more melodic stuff on these two songs are significantly better executed than on erase me so far. This song >>>>> I hate it / blood lust. It really does sound like a juiced up erase me song on the first half and a vouyerist with better production on the back half. I do think this will be their best record since reuniting.

This feels like two song ideas that got jammed together. Such an odd vibe.

  24. I think I dig it because it reminds me of Poppy's album I Disagree, which also had polarizing genre shakeups mid-song. I do feel like the ideas compliment each other, but this is definitely a writing approach that Underoath has never utilized before.

ngl, I have a really hard time with the drum pattern and stuff during the early verses of this one. My brain can't really comprehend it so it sounds messy as hell haha
