Why is Buddy's voice so nasally in this? Damn this band has gone so downhill over the years, hard to believe it's the same band that dropped LIEY and SS

    i am of two minds

    1. it sucks this exists and that he is enabling conley. has made me have to re evaluate whether this is a band i want to still stand by especially when part of why i flocked to them is they really seemed like "one of the good ones" (see buddy calling out folks like attila way back in 2010)

    2. that said every album of theirs was at least good and they grew far past enfold, with the fire / renacer standing as their peaks

The Fire is sooooo good. I enjoyed the last 2 records a lot too. Reancer and the other album are a different direction that I dont hate, but revisit seldomly

i am kinda with you on thorns. not a bad album by any means but the only songs i ever consistently came back to where the closing combo. part of it though is the production makes that album hard to come back to (although the fire also sounds like shit and was always been my favorite lmao)

Weren’t we supposed to get a remaster of Fire? It’s my 2nd favorite but yea it’s hard to listen to.

Unfortunately, you can’t listen to anything Buddy says:
-Senses Fail were going to do a box set with all of the albums on vinyl. Never happened
-Buddy was going to bring Bayonet back. Never happened
    -The Fire Remastered. Never Happened
-He said he was working on a Postal Service type synthpop project called “Sweater Weather”. Never happened

Senses Fail has been my favorite band since 2005 but their pivot away their heavy material, their never changing set list, and the fact that Buddy seems to talk out of his ass has left me very uninterested in the bands future. I like their most recent records well enough but Buddy doesn’t sing well enough to cut the screaming as much as he has

Buddy made huge strides vocally from Follow Your Bliss EP - PTTFYH, but they’ve been pretty bad since they dropped “If There’s a Light…”. Really not sure what happened there

The one thing that does annoy me about buddy is him doing basically the same setlist. They have so many great songs on Life is not a waiting room- Renacer and he basically plays the first two albums over and over. I see no point in seeing them at their headlining shows to see the almost exact same setlist.

I mean I get playing fan favorites. They just did a tour for LINAWR last year. Most of their fanbase doesn’t care for Renacer/Thorns. I do wish they played more songs off of The Fire/If there is Light, but most of their fans just want the first two albums which sucks.

Yeah, I get having live staples but unless it is an anniversary show for another album, it's the first two albums with a few surprises. They are like the opposite of a band like Thrice who besides a few staple songs play what they feel like. Buddy plays to nostalgic fans who haven't cared for new material of the band in over twenty years. Buddy is a sweet dude, but that's the reason I stopped caring to see them live.

i get people have their nostalgia but enfold has really not aged amazingly. instrumentally tight as ever, they were always good about that, but buddys lyrics are absolutely intolerable on that shit and usually those are a selling point for this band. it embodies so much of the toxic mentality of the scene at that moment in a really ugly way

but hes always gonna cater to it. he even said in an interview around the time of hell that the new stuff was throwing back more to that sound bc the metalcore pivot wasnt too successful and he wants to just give the fans what he knows will work which explains the stagnation

that said i never really gave a shit about the unfulfilled promises. nothing about him has ever actively rubbed me the wrong way post 2004 until he did this saves the day split but fuck that

Gonna say the same thing I say ad nauseum in the underoath and Thursday threads every time we complain about set lists: who are these people that haven’t listened to a band in 15 years, have presumably left the scene, and are still spending $40 to see 4 songs from 2006 and earlier?? These folks don’t even know the set is so nostalgia-heavy because they haven’t followed the band since then.

That's crazy to think about that they are the majority somehow, and these bands made their setlist mostly specifically for them. I can't think of many bands that i've listened to 20 years ago and stopped following and would really want to go see live unless it was a festival, I wouldn't be expecting them to be playing only their first two albums after having a long ass career, i'd probably be binging the albums i've missed.

yes, exactly! I certainly don’t know any people like that. And if these people don’t realize they’re getting so many nostalgia songs in the set and are coming regardless, can we not take out 1-4 and play literally anything else?

    Are You Watching Closely?

Between STD splitting headline and them seeming to play 80% of LIEY every time I've seen them, I sadly had zero desire to go to a 20 year anniversary tour for an album I loved as a teen... when 2028 rolls around though, call me for the Waiting Room tour!

I feel there's been an anti-Senses Fail backlash on this site (FROM SOME PEOPLE NOT EVERYONE) since If There Was A Light... for "regressing" from the Renacer/Thorns direction.

Speaking of which, listening to that album now. Still think it's a great blend of their styles with some more mature lyricism.

    Are You Watching Closely?

I'm more "offended" that they've become a nostalgia act over the last decade instead of leaning into their newer stuff
