Sounds like I picked a very cool night to be nonchalant about missing a ppv live and just watching it tomorrow.

 

I thought the PPV ending was good. I am invested in this angle now and want to tune into Dynamite to see where this is headed.

 

Had a blast at the show but that ending was as definitely a bummer. Sucked the life out of the crowd and killing Danielson off in his home state is a choice. Putting the 3 way early on killed a lot of momentum as well as a lot of the matches being predictable. That being said the 3 way was phenomenal, atmosphere for the main event was magical and most of the matches were pretty good even though they felt like TV matches. Interested to see where the Moxley group, Swerve/MVP, MJF/Cole and Osperay/Fletcher stories go so I guess the show did its job.

I will say the Tacoma Dome is an awful, awful venue. The walk there sucked as it’s a very steep uphill climb, the venue is old/outdated with very shitty amenities and staff does not give a shit. I saw multiple people hitting weed pens throughout the crowd tonight and was quite shocked with little kids around. Pretty crazy stuff.

I guess we're also just not used to story-telling setup heavy PPVs, especially after All In/All Out. This felt like the first PPV in a while where them running 10/yr instead of 4/yr really showed. Doubly so because they ran special events every week leading up to it.

Just caught up with the show. Here are my thoughts

A very good show, but not my favorite from AEW. Hangman/White was fantastic with some great story told. International Title match was very fun, but definitely had some eye rolls throughout. Loved the main, and the ending was incredibly uncomfortable. Thought they nailed it. I'm sad. Danielson is the best to ever do it.

I think between Swerve, Ospreay, Hangman, Takeshita, Danielson and Okada; the current AEW roster might have the most guys I've lived in a single promotion since the Attitude Era

 

Seems like a perfect 4-person pairing to face BCC in an Anarchy in the Arena match at Full Gear

 

poor amount of excitement leading up to wrestledream but executing pretty well. easily the weakest main show I think they’ve done aside from full gear last year but even at their weakest it was still a good show. they gotta get Garcia the tnt title, Jack Perry is not working out man idk it’s just x pac heat and as fun as watching shibata give him the young boy treatment I’d rather see someone else with that spot. Like who literally cares about what he’s doing, nobody gives a shit about him and it’s not bc he got into a fight with cm punk it’s bc he has the charisma of an anteater

Anyways Bryan Danielson is the best wrestler of all time and I feel like I actually need to watch their weekly show again so I’m #coping rn but looking forward to what they do these next 6 weeks. Feels like it’s gonna be OC v Mox in an all out rematch at full gear

 

also I can’t lie, briscoe brought out the best Jericho match probably since wembley last year IMO however having JR on commentary not knowing what’s up between Jericho - mark and the promos about Jay is just the perfect encapsulation of what’s wrong with AEW right now

happy about the tv deal, I flew to England for fucks sake to see a ppv, but something has to change and it’s not to become more like WWE

Smart pick for the 4 guys you want present as the top babyfaces in AEW leading up to the Max launch. You could switch out Garcia, but the other 3 for sure you want front and center for that wider distribution. If I was trying to build a new audience for wrestling from the ground up among tween/teen boys I would for sure book Darby, OC, and Hook at the very top.
