This defied my expectations. First listen was positive and the production is very good.

some very Joba-like moments and noises in parts of the album, but they’re kinda pushed to the back.

Damn, really cool album, singles didn’t do much for me on their own but I’m enjoying them more now for sure.

  7. This is awesome, right up my alley with the 70s stuff I've been into over the past couple of years. Love all of the piano. His theatrics work a lot better here, and honestly, it's pretty subdued for him. Big Elton vibes.

Agreed, American Fever works way better on record than in that live video

  9. I think this is pretty easily my favorite solo thing to come out of the band, even pre-Saturation tbh. Arizona Baby comes closest.

Okay yeah this is some really pretty music, Joba's sense of melody has always been really strong (What's the Occasion is my vote for the most underrated BH song) and the production is immaculate and gorgeous.

Probably not a sound I would return to super often though, but I'm happy that it'll be there when I want it. My favorites on first listen are American Fever, Lonestar, Doormat and People Need People

Between Matt and now Joba these guys have been doing a really good job of taking their contributions in BH and what they did in their solo music beforehand and combining it and turning it into something more mature

Feel like this album is already very underrated
