Very interesting. I wonder if they'll get another band/artist to fill in.

I’ve never been mad about a cancellation before but this statement sucks ass. Reads like whining about set times or something else silly. Just lie about having COVID for fuck’s sake.

Interesting. I'm curious why, if that person is gone, they can't just play the set list they had originally planned. I mean, would fans rather see AAR perform different songs than originally advertised or not perform at all?

Line-up as in the stage they were playing or allotted time?

Both. As a fan, if you tell me I get to see a band I wanted to for 45 minutes instead of 60, and it won't be the original things that they wanted to play, I still want to see that. It's certainly better than not seeing them at all.

I do get a band being annoyed at having less time than they originally planned though and having to cut songs as a result.

I disagree, depending on the situation. In a normal festival circumstance sure, I'll take 45 minutes instead of 60 as a fan. But this whole festival was intended to be album plays (except a select few) and that's what they have to be because that's what was promised; otherwise, that's bait & switch & is deceptive/fraudulent.

I seem to remember that the first festival at least they had not confirmed all the bands before the poster went out. So that doesn't surprise me in the least. I also, personally, am not the biggest fan of album celebrations at festivals, but I think I am outvoted on that score.

I can't imagine how it's better for the festival for them to drop versus just...letting them play what they want?

If you have to ask, you can't afford it

I went the last 2 years and was just too skeptical to go again this year. The sets are only about 30 mins and 5 maybe 6 songs so i didn't seem possible that bands could play full albums

It's really a shame that WWWY is the festival that will carry the flag for that era. It's absolutely fucking absurd how they stack the line-ups into a single day, in such a soulless venue.

    Fuck this fest.

I have a feeling there's gonna be a lot of overlap with the stages. It's not going to be a matter of missing a couple songs. You're going to be picking which band you want to see, period. Not to mention that moving around is already hard enough at WWWY.
I'm conflicted. I had a good time at both of the last two fests, and I was able to see bands that I never thought I'd ever see in person. But they've gotten so damned greedy, and for $450/ea., you should be getting two days of entertainment. I decided to skip this year just because it's so expensive, and there's a lot of overlap from the past two years. The fact that they sold out three days in 2022 instantly, sold out two days in 2023 very quickly, and won't sell out the second day of 2024 is pretty telling.

I paid $647.50 including taxes and fees in 2022 to see this fest, and now those same two tickets are $882.90. Just not worth an extra $235 to me.

That being said, I am contemplating flying out there though because tickets are now under $200 including fees on third-party sites. And likely to drop as we get closer to the show.

    Might be Spider-Man...

Was going to mention this. I remember Andrew McMahon telling the story about getting notified about this, then getting a call like year later or something and he was like "Oh that thing"? totally forgetting about it, and someone telling him he had two days to confirm if SoCo was playing. This thing seems a little Fyre Fest with disfunction

tbh the novelty of this fest (and of the emo/pop punk revival) has kind of dried up. i love this fest and every band playing it, but they’ve gotta be losing some steam with the general public at this point

Plus, if you saw all these bands already, what’s the point of going to see them play 30 minutes and you already know the set since it’s just gonna be the singles and fan favorites , it’s not worth the money at all in my opinion.

This year they are doing albums and not just the hits in order to entice people that have already seen these bands before

They didn't give bands a large enough time slot to play the albums they were asked to play? What the crap? Or I wonder if it's a case of them giving exactly the right amount of time, which doesn't give a band time to breathe, drink, or talk to their crowd at all.

Actually I think Live Nation is now running Warped next year and WWWY is one of the rare events not being put on by Live Nation. Regardless, it's definitely going to be tough for some of the non main stage bands to play entire albums in the time allotted.
