this is pretty much how I felt about it. It's not bad but there's nothing that compels me to return to it really.

Yeah I’ve listened to the album three times at this point and still nothing really moves the needle for me

    Oh well

Held off listening to any of the singles before full album dropped, wasn't blown away on my first listen apart from Believe the Hype but it's been on repeat for the last few days and it's grown a lot. I'm a fan.

To those that think it's just okay: did you like them a lot before? It's hard for me to understand not liking it if you were a big fan of their previous output, but I can also admit there's not a lot to draw you in if you didn't like them previously.

I’m a casual fan, always enjoyed their stuff but never quite blown away. This falls in the same camp, but definitely feels like their most mature album yet. That said, I feel like maybe I just moved on from being huge on this kind of music.

I loved them before, still do. All the singles were great and I think the highlights of the record. The rest is fine, but overall the album doesn't blow me away and sits towards the bottom of their discography

I kinda feel like B&C is a band that is more than the sum of their parts. Like individually, a lot of songs are pretty similar and aren’t usually super complex. Jon’s lyrics are pretty simple. The vocal melodies don’t stray a ton from each other.

But when you throw it all together it just adds up to something really special. Those simple chord progressions feel huge and ominous. The songwriting feels earnest and precise. There’s subtle variations and harmonies that really make those melodies come to life.

I’m a little more of a casual fan, but I think this album is them at their best (though I do think there was a little more variation in some of their past projects).

Nah, I think I've checked them out a couple of times before and they've never really been my thing. I just know people like them a lot so I think it's worth giving their new music a shot to see if it I like them more this time around.

We reach for the longest shadow

We see this a lot with comeback albums. It's the band proving they can still do what they previously did. If they stick around and release another album, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more risk taking.

i remember when American Football did this with their last couple LPs. if we get another B&C album, i'm hopeful they'll do some more cool shit.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

Im a big fan of this one and long time B&C lover but I can see why people may not like this as much as their other records or it may fall flat for some. It does lack variety in sounds and risk taking (LWM was a huge change up for them after TTWTWM) but I still love what they chose to go with here so it doesn't bother me personally.

I’ve liked them since 2011, but Light We Made and Separation are the only albums of theirs I’ve ever really gotten into. I enjoy a handful of songs from TTWTWM and I think Slow Heart is their best stuff, but this album is just okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unfortunately in the “this is fine” camp. I do like all 3 of their albums prior but this feels more restrained and doesn’t have the energy of the others. I am going to need to sit with it because it does have strong “grower” vibes

I looked at tickets to the show when it was at the riv last week and pretty much the entire balcony was not sold yet so not surprising

Think venue changes has happened three times so far on the tour (Brooklyn, Toronto, Chicago) so not sure who booked the tour but doesn’t seem as if they gauged it correctly.

I mean it could also be where they booked high so that they can ensure everyone can attend. When Fireworks toured recently, they about half filled a 700 cap venue here when they could have just done much smaller and sold it out. Gets rid of the headache of sell outs and resales, I suppose, just keep it simple.

They’re played at a pretty large venue in Philly for this tour, about 2500 capacity. I just saw Manchester Orchestra there and have seen Thrice (among many other headliners) there before so I was surprised to see that they were playing there when the tour was announced. I didn’t go though so idk what the rough estimate of the attendance was like

  22. basically this is the kind of album i’ve been waiting for them to make since i first heard reflection and tiny raindrop — i’m really hooked on it to be honest.

I think this is their best work. I didn't listen to the singles and I am so glad.

Granted work has been crazy, family life, plus I’ve been sick the last week AND a ton of good music came out last week so I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time with this. However my two listens have been solid and even though I’ve been sick. Now that I’m getting over it I’ll be able to take it in better and spend more time with it hopefully.

At a guess I’d have said like 1500. I enjoyed that as a first timer to the place, enough space that it didn’t feel crammed but didn’t seem empty
