I worked at Walmart for 17 years. I feel like I heard Babylon by David Gray everyday forever. Some songs still trigger working retail.

Once I became a manager as soon as the new cd with music would come in I'd immediately rush to go swap it out! Even though 70% of the music was the same stuff anyways haha.

I do remember one month they had The Widow by The Mars Volta and I was like whaaaaaaa?!

lol, Babylon was another repeated song. That was sort of a jam.

A lot of Dave Matthews too. Steely Dan, Doobie Bros.

I feel like Wal-Mart has more of a variety now since it's not a CD. But agreed that retail radio can be torture, especially if it's the same station playing the same feed all the time. I worked at a grocery store that played the same list on a loop and it drove me insane.

Thank You by Natalie Merchant drove me insane. So did Sunny Came Home by Shawn Colvin. Haha. Now I can say on the rare occasion retail radio has turned me onto stuff I found myself enjoying like the song LuvSik by Mozella!

i think the only time i remember thinking "huh, our grocery store actually played something halfway-decent" was when our assistant manager (who programmed the store's Pandora stations) added Heart to Break by Kim Petras to the rotation. i was surprised at first, but about a month later, it disappeared from rotation, which i'm assuming might have to do with the fact that all but 4 of the staff (me being one of those 4) were conservative.

I don't know how many times I was forced to listen to "Back On The Chain Gang" by The Pretenders, but it was too many.

John // OC now, OH forever.

I worked at Apple for 5 years. Lots of indie hipster music from iPod commercials.

Christmas music still makes me want to suplex someone.

Same, and before that was in a corporate environment where the only music I heard was out of my own headphones... thankfully.

When I worked at a grocery store right before the pandemic, they would play pop music during the day and once the 10 p.m. shift hit, they'd switch to '70s psychedelic rock and it was the worst shit ever.

At work for nearly 3 years now I’ve had to hear basically the same 100 songs on shuffle and good god it’s basically the worst music the radio has to offer. I normally have an AirPod in to try to drown it out

I have worked from home for the past 11 years (essentially my entire career) and I think it would break my soul to have to go work in any setting where I couldn't control the music at all times.

  15. Sum 41 collection, complete. Very cool to have that done. Excited to read his book now too.

When I worked at Best Buy, not too long after I started they installed a Sonos system for the store. I was “accidentally” given the login info and was able to control it. I would play a lot of scene bands at times. I wasn’t the only one with control, so I didn’t always put stuff on. But I would bet my store was the only one playing the stuff I played haha

Have you had issues with Rude? They’ve done good by me 2/2 so far.

So far, all good. American Hi-Fi got here in perfect condition. Millencolin - Pennybridge Pioneers is actually arriving today after traveling what seemed like the entire world so I'm a bit nervous to see how it looks.

Looks like only about 165 out of 1,000 left for Screaming Bloody Murder. I'd jump on it if you haven't already.

  23. Maybe this will be the week that album finally clicks with me. Always been the only one I don't really like, and it's always the one Deryck mentions as being one of his faves.

I like some of the songs on it. Jessica Kill, Blood In My Eyes, title track, Scumfuk.

Thats about it off the top of my head.

When I saw them a few weeks ago, Deryck said the title track was the most requested song for them to play.
