@mescalineeyes what’s your SH2 gpu settings now?

I have an i9 and 4080

 

I am running 4k, DLSS Balanced, Transparency Pass Off and Shadows on Low. Raytracing off, obviously.

This is on a 3080. If I was you I'd see if I can hit anything reasonable with Raytracing on.

The Coalition are masters of the unreal engine. Check out Gears 5 if you want to see what it can do.

id Tech is in-house and not even licensed outside of Bethesda I think, so that's true. Unfortunate.

To be fair, the studios at Xbox have been better at using UE than anyone other than Epic. Especially in the UE4 era. So, I don't doubt the next Halo will look great. I want Epic to be quaking in their boots though. License that Doom engine please. lol

all in all I’ve noticed 2 annoying issue and 2 minor issues

1. VRR flickering with g sync on my oled tv. had to turn off g sync and just do vsync. solved.
2. microstuttering. capped to 60 fps. solved.
3. small white borders on some textures. not solved.
4. ghosting. like on the floating leaves that everyone’s talked about. not solved.

thoughts on those? I’m also interested in HDR settings to get the brightness etc looking best.

I’m running just sub 4k and messing with DLSS settings. I am running ray tracing. Dunno what I’m gonna do yet. Does shadows on low look shitty and does it get you frames? I cant remember what my frames were after I was done tweaking I think my lowest was high 40s.

 

Hopefully them switching to unreal engine gives them time to make a better game with more content. Halo is in dire need of a bigger success. I wonder if that Halo CE remake is actually happening, that was the rumor that was attached to them switching to UE

 

Still really want to play this but gonna have to wait a bit.

shadows on low does not look shitty at all but if you are doing raytracing you shouldn't really have to worry about it. oh I also disabled SSR.

oh regarding the leaves (and possibly also the textures?): update your DLSS to 3.7.2

I strangely have neither of those issues and I am running it with the DLSS version it shipped with.

Actually I have to take that back, for some reason I remembered Pathologic as being straight surreal horror, but apparently there's a lot of survival and RPG mechanics to it. Sounds wild.

Just started doing a group clinic like 4 months ago and I absolutely love it. I'd say look for lessons that yall can take together as a start, its really really fun.
