I liked VHS beyond. Alanah Pearce being in it was unexpected and neat.

It’s What’s Inside was much less ~horror~ than I was anticipating but damn, that movie was fucking nuts. Super fun. The editing and score were incredible

yeah Beyond was great. better than 99 and 85, about on par with 94 for me. Stork is a top 5 VHS segment ever

I definitely agree with this - the only thing that broke that 80's cable vibe for me was the modern cinematography (or maybe digital color grading?), and it made me wish it had a little bit more of an old school look. it ended up being a lot better than I was expecting though given the fact that it was delayed so much and dumped out of theaters. it absolutely felt rushed though, and I don't think we got quite enough time to connect with the characters.

I think i enjoyed it a little bit more also because it was shot in towns close to where I live and it was cool seeing some places I actually recognized.

I've never read the book but this was a solid horror movie

it's a pretty solid modern vampire movie but a bad adaptation of the book is probably where I'd land on it. got me wanting to rewatch the Tobe Hooper adaptation, I haven't seen that in years

honestly, it made me wanna go and read the book. I haven't read any Stephen King, or any horror at all, in over a decade

anyway I'm burning through my shudder queue because I'm an unemployed sadsack and I don't leave the house anymore. finally got to In a Violent Nature, the last 30 lost me a bit but otherwise that movie whips. beautifully directed and I somehow didn't have *that* kill spoiled for me all year

Stowaway was my fav, but not big on this one. I’m not really big on any of them tbh tho. The skydiving one was particularly bad.

weird to have them all be about aliens except one.

IFC was marathoning the Halloween movies yesterday and I haven’t seen them unedited in so long, forgot how brutal some of the kills are and how much nudity there is lol

I think II's What's Inside does a decent job as they could of trying not to confuse the audience of who is in whose body at any given time , but I still found myself having a hard time keeping track sometimes.

What was it like working with David Allen Greer, whom at the time was more known for his comedic roles? Also, how does he feel about his movie largely staying relevant in the modern era?

  23. All this talk of the new Salem's Lot has me checking out the Tobe Hooper movie. An hour in, and I never want it to end. Gonna read King's book after I finish it, then watch the new adaptation. Might mess around and watch Return to Salem's Lot as well!

I have extremely hazy, vague memories of watching the original Tobe Hooper miniseries on VHS, but like a home made VHS tape like someone taped it off of TV, and that is it - I'm going to have to give it a real watch.

Broke my phone in Portugal right before flying back and it’s so nice to finally have a full working non-cracked screen again after 5 days. Missed catching up on this thread.

Watched Child’s Play earlier, charred Chucky is sick as fuck every time. Might do Freaked or Killer Klowns tonight.
