Great first listen, ILYSM and Yolk are untouchable for me but I think this slots right behind those in my rankings. It feels like a refined version of self-titled with the expanded sonic palette from his other works. Catholic Dracula is definitely the one right now.

This album should play real well on that MJ Lenderman tour, hope it does good things for John!

I'm not going crazy right? Catholic Dracula is "Then He Kissed Me"?

Is "Cloud or Mountain" referencing Lefty from Donnie Brasco?

This one absolutely needs to be listened to on a roadtrip with the windows down.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. It’s pleasant but nothing really sticks out. Maybe Sprinter’s Brain; I like that one. It’s kinda same-y throughout and isn’t really my style either. Maybe it’s a grower; I’ve only listened to it twice. I’m a little disappointed because ABLL is one of my favorites from the 2020s and I adore the rest of their albums too.

I might come around to it. I had some of the same feelings after first listening to Yolk in the Fur when I discovered them. I love that album now

some of the tracks don't work for me but the ones that do really really do. love them expanding their sound.

  19. love this so much. I think my three favorite releases this year all mention McDonald’s so there’s that

I wish a few songs on here hung around longer, esp. Bonnie One but fuck it's good. love how it's this fuzzed-out irreverent pendulum swing away from ILYSM's thoughtful quiet stuff. dude is one of the best songwriters around no doubt

I do really enjoy this but right now I think I'd take Air Drumming Fix You over any of the songs on here. that thing is just a piece of fucking magic
