I think you're underestimating 1. The effect a president both publicly and privately saying essentially "kill them all and get it over with" rather than the more careful rhetoric Biden and Harris have used (i.e. "how they do it matters" and what not) and how that emboldens action/rhetoric abroad AND at home (and I think we saw examples of this all throughout Trump's first term), and 2. the possibility that Trump starts directly involving the US military in a more broad sense, including pre-emptive invasion

We've had plenty of Dems in congress saying it's wrong already, maybe a Trump presidency causes more of them to coalesce around it, but given the risks, I don't think that's a good idea....especially since you're now toying with the idea of a Trump presidency with a Dem minority in both houses, which renders that coalescing moot anyway unless you can be sure there won't be 7-8 Dems in the senate who don't coalesce in that resistance...and I sadly feel way less confident in that than others seem to. Like is Chris Coons really gonna vote against more US action in Israel/middle east just because Trump is president? ehhhh

  19. It's funny how when it's Biden cutting off arms, it's "well it wouldn't matter because Israel won't listen and will do what they want anyway" but when it's Trump saying out loud the things Biden believe and acts on it's "this could have huge ramifications on the conflict"

Trump has largely been silent on the whole issue other than basically just saying he wants Israel to finish the job and it get done as soon as possible. Assuming the "job" is to eliminate Hamas you can only assume that means even more $$ and weapons for Israel from the US with the possibility of actually sending our own troops there to help, no humanitarian aid for Gaza (which Biden admin has provided billions of $$ toward) and no calls for a ceasefire from a Trump admin.

Is it possible that Trump is no worse than Biden here? Sure, but I don't see why anyone would draw that conclusion as the most likely scenario

I mean, again, we literally saw in Trump's first term how just his rhetoric on issues made things worse. This includes in Israel where he basically gave Bibi the go ahead to expand settlements at will, with no pushback of any kind, and rather encouraged it. Kind of directly lead to the conflict today.

When all you’ve got as the difference is rhetoric and we’re talking about genocide man you have really lost the plot

So if we stick with the democrats they allow Israel to slowly destroy Palestine, and if we get Trump again he'll allow Israel to quickly destroy Palestine. Both are terrible options.

I don’t even know what Biden has done or what Harris has said she plans to do that is impacting Israel at all. They are doing what they want. If anything is slowing Israel down its pushback from the rest of the international community, it’s not from us. We’re giving them bombs! Also saying your option will allow people to suffer longer is pretty bad, maybe try something else

  25. There was an escalation of settlement expansion during the Trump administration but the idea that it was at an level that fundamentally changed the nature of the conflict is nonsense. And either way, by most metrics, Biden's term has been essentially as bad as Trump's for settlement expansion. Only Tenders for Construction sees radical differences during Trump's term, and that only applies to 13 WB settlements.
