Wretched Trajectory is the catchiest song I’ve heard in a minute

I finally just checked these guys out and they're fucking great. I'm always on the quest to find modern pop-punk bands that I actually like and these guys are super unique and interesting while still keeping everything as catchy as the genre should be. Helps that they're local to me too lol

Might try to check out their tour

Been on a discography binge this week, and it’s sort of mad how many ridiculously catchy choruses or even verses this band has while still being really interesting.

Their choruses are amazing and this is the first record that they have actually bothered to repeat the choruses consistently haha

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

halfway through and Underneath My Skin is the one that's really grabbing me so far. the piano on Wretched Trajectory is also such a sweet touch

Underneath My Skin into Wretched Trajectory into AP Revisionist History has to be up there as one of this bands best 3 song runs - and they have so many good ones

I enjoy Brightest Days quite a bit, but it throws me off a little how much it's the runaway favorite here. To me it's kind of their outlier. No hate, just interesting to me.

Idk how I'd rank their albums though. Not ready to throw this new one in the mix yet, but I think SC is their most consistent, GG has their highest highs, and TBD is a fun summer album.

Maybe it's because it's the outlier. I don't even like the first two albums at all and I love TBD

  18. Absolutely can't stop listening to this album. It's hard to pick my favorite Origami Angel album. They just make 10/10's each time. Gami Gang is my comfort food. The Brightest Days hooks me a bit more. But Feeling Not Found has more moments where I'm like "Wow these guys are doing cool shit." All around they're probably one of the most exciting bands out there for me right now.

Yeah I do like the first two albums and this new one but all of them have a few too many songs that sound a bit too alike without really standing out for me which is where The Brightest Days shines. It's the only one that's consistently great and interesting for me.

I've only listened to the new one a couple of times though so my opinion on that could easily change.

    This is where I am.

The Brightest Days is where I start anyone new to the band because it’s the most straightforward and catchiest, to me and probably the layperson.

But the hooks in certain sections of songs (final breakdown of Sixth Cents, bridge of Higher Road) or even entire songs (Living Proof, Wretched Trajectory, Feeling Not Found) feel like they attach to strands of my DNA. It feels brand new and simultaneously feels like these songs have also been a part of me forever.

I think this band’s songwriting took a massive step forward with TBD and that continues here. Easily their two best imo

I love TBD and FNF but I don't necessarily think the songwriting is that much stronger, I think that would be a disservice to Gami Gang. More mature lyrics and traditional song structures for sure but FNF almost has one too many breakdowns for my liking where for the first time it seems like they are going to the same page of the playbook quite a lot.

It's hard for me to listen to the bridge of /Trust and not be carried away with the driving arrangement as he sings "Even though this world is such a dead end, I know we'll make it perfect while we still can, I knowwwww" and think that too much since has reached the same impactfulness and resonance. The fact that some moments have reached that level (FNF title track a prime example) is amazing. But /Trust is maybe the 5th best song on Gami Gang!?!?

I think it's one of those "first album I heard" becomes the favorite. Which is how it is for me.

I really don't see it that way. TBD definitely felt like a distinct change in a lot of ways and for fans of the band. It was really cool and interesting to hear them mature and branch out in ways we really hadn't heard before from them. Second Best Friend is a fantastic song and the self titled opener is one of their best songs in their catalog as it really shows you the desire to go back to the hopeful times when you were a kid and blind to the world and not struggling with depression. The rest of the songs stand on their own as well, but those are the ones I connect with the most.
