I guess just trying to keep people out of the area so they don’t touch anything? I really don’t know. Feels like the hundreds of people on the train with them would be a bigger deal to try and lock down hah

I feel like every day I check this thread, find a handful of posters making incredibly reasonable arguments about Israel and Palestine, the subsequent "yeah, but...."s and remember I probably should just slam my head into a brick wall.

Yeah but US politics has always made people slam their head into a brick wall. You aren’t going to find a politician who doesn’t inspire that reaction, so I don’t expect that to ever be the case. I’ve never heard of a successful politician who has made not making people slam their heads into a brick wall a winning proposition under our system.

I had to do it ironically before David did it for real. If I need to become viewed as a villain to protect this thread from him, I will accept that cost.

Well mostly I’m starting to think a lot of you are maybe delusional because no one here is “yeah but”ing Israel/Palestine lol. Like you’re hate reading liberal cheerleaders on Twitter and then thinking people here are saying the same things when they’re mostly just pointing out things like Tim Walz wasn’t talking about starting the First Israeli Empire last night or whatever.

I think he might have been referring to what you did which was people pointing out exactly what Waltz said and you saying yeah he said that but he didn’t mean it he meant something that completely different words mean

Oh and while also saying yeah he said this all started on October 7th and didn’t acknowledge the murder of Gazans but he’s towing some line or something

The number of people pointing out a pattern of behavior? They’re the delusional ones. Classic non-delusional guy thing to say.

Also, like….can he please acknowledge Netanyahu’s not doing war to help his buddy Donny? Like I’m sure that’s a nice benefit but the #1 reason and goal is very much something different.

lol it’s clear watching the clip again that he mixed up saying Israel and Iran and you guys like really need it to not be true for some reason. I really don’t get it. What the Biden admin is doing on Israel is bad enough as it is! You don’t have to play stupid and act like Tim Walz in a VP debate just got out ahead of the entire Biden Admin and declared he wants to expand Israel! Like don’t dumb yourselves down just to try and dunk on a party/admin that has already made it so easy to do so. The intellectual dishonesty is astounding.

So he thinks it’s fundamental that Iran expands in the region? Big if true.
You keep missing the point that his rhetoric was very Zionist and the Palestinian plight is barely acknowledged and that’s what we’re so pissed about.

listen to the quote again dude. He was saying having steady leadership in the United States is a fundamental necessity to deal with the expansion of Iran and its proxies in the region. And he misspoke as he said it, not only on the Iran/israel part but how he worded the rest of it in weird, out of order way. He did the same thing on multiple other things, including the claim of being “friends with school shooters” and the word vomit he put out trying to explain that he meant to say he was in Hong Kong the same summer of the protests, rather than being there for the protests themselves.

I never said anything contrary to this! I said it was disappointing and even worse than Harris’ line because at least she alludes to Israel’s handling of it being problematic! I was responding in the context of the convo about Shapiro and his Zionism and if we thought that had anything to do with why he wasn’t picked and Walz was. And someone (I believe you actually but could be wrong) said well listen to what he said he’s obviously Zionist too and I responded saying well yeah he is but Shapiro’s past writings on Palestinians pointed to a more rabid, racist root to his Zionism that, in my opinion, elevated him above someone like Walz in that regard. This was in no means a way to say Walz isn’t Zionist! I know because I literally said he was still a Zionist in that same post lol. It was just commenting on the idea that if the campaign interviewed and vetted both candidates, it was easy to see an scenario where they saw Walz as the more mainstream Dem type of Zionist/two state solution type (aka the type of Dem responding to these polls that is more likely to say Israel is going too far in their response) and saw Shapiro as more in line with the conservative just make it all Israel types (aka the Dem or Repub responding to these polls more like to say Israel’s response is justified) and decided yeah that will be part of why we make the choice we make. Thats it! Theres nothing more to read into it! Lol I even said even if that were true that I didn’t see Shapiro’s Zionist comments and beliefs as being the main reason they decided to go with Walz instead.

Then that’s when you were like “he said he wants to expand Israel!” I guess as your evidence that actually he’s Uber Zionist Shapiro-like or just wanted to argue with me/accuse of me of saying he wasn’t Zionist or something when I think it’s prrrrrretty clear that’s not what he was saying there.
