Well you say that even most Dems polled think Israel is going too far in their actions based on polling, right? Given Walz’s other stances, the odds are in favor of him as a regular voter being within the majority of Dems, no? Whereas Shapiro had those college writings that were like…very very right wing Zionist in nature lol, making it seem more likely he’d be in the minority saying Israel is doing just fine. But either way, neither of them would have gone out there and said something that contradicts the top of the ticket

Okay. So he gave an unhinged response he doesn’t believe in because it is necessary to do so in keeping with the rhetoric of his running mate. Fair enough.

Unless the articles about Biden folks being pissed at Harris for not taking their advice in the first weeks was BS, it really seems like Harris burst on to the stage looking to differentiate herself, it worked amazingly as far as favorability and donations, then, at some point, she’s slunk back to doing all the stupid Biden shit plus an extra layer of right-wing celeb courting and rhetoric cribbing. Was she trying to do some shit for real and gave up/got knocked back on to the party line or was it just a misinterpretation that those first weeks had some signs of transgressive choices bubbling from Harris’ new campaign?

Well let me put it this way: I have never in my life heard any american politician talk about "Israel and its proxies in the region", especially given that they don't...have any proxies in the region lol...I have heard pretty much every president and vice president talk about "iran and its proxies in the region" though.

Also i think a lot of them are basing it off of the previous sentence where he meant to say "israel's fundemental right to defend itself" but started the sentence with "iran" first before correcting himself.

I guess my dumb ass really is going to have to sit down after spending two plus hours stuck in traffic and google clips of Walz v Vance from last night

seems even more pathetic and soul crushing than watching a vice presidential debate live if I'm being honest

Nah you really don't have to watch the whole thing, it was like the very first question. NYPost already clipped it to show how "Shaky" he was with the mixups and stumbling lol

Well at least David has finally broken his recent pattern of taking things at face value in order to dismiss criticism.

Well I don't think it was unhinged because I do think he misspoke, because having "Steady leadership" in american government to deal with the "expansion of israel and its proxies" makes no sense in any context lol, but yes he was definitely not going to go out there and say anything different than what Harris has said. If anything it was a disappointment he didn't at least get her line in there about how Israel is going about it is wrong and should change. I mean he mentioned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza but at least Harris' line leaves the door open for who we're actually blaming for said crisis, whereas Walz never got that far.

Also who cares if he misspoke when at the end of the day what he refused to do was say “no I don’t support a preemptive strike on iran” (wtf!)

Actually now that I've rewatched the clip I think it's beyond parody that you think Tim Walz is staking out a public position no one use in the US govt has publicly taken as far as I know about expanding "Israel and it's proxies in the region", and citing that as a reason for the need of "Steady leadership in american government" lol

Like, there are plenty of real, good reasons to hate the Dems policy in Israel, no need to be intellectually dishonest to make another one

When he said this all started on October 7th when Hamas slaughtered innocent Israelis I’m sure he wasn’t ignoring the brutal occupation of Palestinians and justifying Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. He just slipped up. “Hamas terrorists” murder Israelis but what’s going on in Gaza is a “humanitarian crisis”. Just slip ups

True! Instead he said well this is all Hamas’ fault so…

Thanks for the extended clip because the one I found had ended right after the steady leadership necessity comment....Because in longer clip where he says its fundamental necessary for steady us leadership, and then goes "and you saw why today", mentioning the US helping to intercept some of the missiles from Iran thanks to our "leadership" lol

So the rhetoric about how this began on October 7th (false) when Hamas terrorists massacred 1400 people (also false) was also him misspeaking? Or just the part where he said it’s necessary for Israel to expand? Maybe he meant Israel and said proxies by mistake. He corrected himself the sentence before but didn’t that time? Hmmm, idk.

I don’t expect him to contradict the top of the ticket. I expect him to toe the line. You assume he has some secret feelings that are meaningfully different than Shapiro’s, so accepting that premise: fuckin so? What does anyone’s personal feelings - especially ones you have no basis to believe exist beyond “sure seems like a swell guy” - have to do with it when his public position is Gonna Do More Genocide.

The ticket’s position is what I’m most interested in! I don’t give a shit about Tim Waltz the grandpa or whatever. And the ticket is extremely pro-Israel at a time when we’re helping them commit active genocide. I’m not litigating Tim Waltz the person although he’s showing he is just another politician
