the sign-ups link says "here's a preview of what's to come", so my assumption is that this will be on the album. the end of it has similar vocal distortion to Teeth. feels a bit like an opening track, but i could be wrong.

I agree this song could’ve been written by any number of metalcore bands but it is a really fun listen, love how well the vocals mesh with the guitars

the cursing coming during the fleeting clean vocal is really lame and somewhat ruined the song for me.

calling it an unreleased song does make it sound like it’s not on the album, it also doesn’t mesh stylistically with teeth at all. Would be unlike them to release a non-album song at this point though which makes me worry we might get another disparate non-cohesive album

 

It probably says "unreleased" because they haven't actually announced an album yet so they're being cryptic on purpose

 

I dig it. It's not grabbing me as much as anything on Voyeurist so far, but I'm excited to see what this album is shaping up to be.

 

Pretty good interview where Spencer talks about the new album. He confirmed that both Let Go and Lifeline aren’t on the new record.. but I like both of those much more over Teeth lol

Watching their Voyeurist doc on their youtube channel and its funny how the first episode is just them shitting on Erase Me.

 

It's a tradition unlike any other! They barely made it out of the original Safety album cycle before they were already vowing to never play some of those songs again. I love this band, but it's funny how much they seem to hate what they did previously in the moment before finally coming back around on it years later.

 

He has a whole bit about teeth being an intentional curveball and that they are confident all the folks freaking out will be losing it when the whole album drops.

 

I dislike it when bands slag off the previous album in new album promo. Korn used to do it all the time.

They should have to wait an extra album to do so; none of this “return to form” promo drivel.

 

It's even worse IMO because its like the general consensus i'm hearing is that "Aaron was checked out during writing and we let Spencer take the reins too much"

 

And if you watch the Erase Me doc they're all like "this is being the most true to ourselves" or whatever. And yeah, I understand opinions can change over time and I don't doubt their disdain for Erase Me being sincere but it was a pretty drastic switchup

I found a couple of Disambiguation era things when I was cleaning out my garage the other day. Album poster and the shirt I bought from the Illuminatour. Was honestly expecting to never come across them again so I'm happy to have found them

 

I hope they don't slag on Voyeurist cause it's the best but exciting to see how enthusiastic Spencer is about the new album

 

From what I keep hearing from other people who have heard the album, it's a return to form along the lines of LITSOS so I'm really hopeful in that regard.

 

I liked the Voyeurist singles much more than And Then There Was Nothing and Teeth so I'm keeping my expectations in check

 

In regards to myself, I'd think this is the right move...

 

I think there’s a big difference between the docs and podcasts they made with close friends thinking back on releases and going out there trashing old stuff in the press. Spencer keeps saying he’s proud of everything they’ve done, but that this the most fun he’s had and the feedback has been through the roof from friends and management. It’s cool they did the Erase Me doc and that huge podcast series for the last record. They were off the cuff sharing their feelings and it’s wild they put that stuff out. I think it gets conflated with them publicly trashing old stuff IMO.

To me it’s fair to say disambiguation was Tim driving the ship, and Erase me was Spencer and Aaron. Vouyerist was the most equal post Aaron leaving record where everyone was cooking equally to get that push and pull that makes underoath rad (still not my favorite record, but I hear the progress in this area) . I hope this record keeps that going. When I hear the comments they’ve made about the last couple albums I think they’re just searching for how modern underoath has that back and forth without imploding again.

 

Saw them at Furnace Fest yesterday. They played Teeth as the first song out of the album play, and let me tell you, the crowd was... deflated, haha. They got it back, but it was a choice as the first encore song.

Spencer mentioned a new album, and a new tour and asked if we wanted them to come back to Birmingham, to which one fan responded, "Not if you play that shit!" and said it was the most proud he's been of an album since DTGL, which is obviously hyperbole from them at this point. It was a great time though.

It probably sounds worse than it is. I was far enough away that there was a zero percent chance anyone in the band heard it, and it was well timed enough that I thought it was pretty funny.

Also the crowd went absolutely bonkers, especially at the end, there were probably 100 people on stage singing the end of Writing on the Walls, and Spencer was crowdsurfing on top of the fans on the stage, haha. So I don't think they're too worried about a couple fans' response to one song. I do think Teeth was much better live than the recorded version. The heavy section was really cool.

 

To the folks saying and Tim didn’t have a part in teeth, dude is having the time of his life just like he did when they played no frame. I like it as a song a lot, and think it will be really cool in the sequence of the album but it doesn’t sound great live, and i can’t imagine it will stay in the setlist after the record release tour.

 

Just so odd that they led with that as the lead single for the next album. Maybe they are just in a "don't give a shit what people think" attitude and feel like the 20TOCS tour carries their momentum no matter what, but just an odd choice in my opinion. Others have said it here, but I think it'll work a lot better in the context of the album. It's like if they led with Some Seek Forgiveness to promote TOCS back in the day. I haven't seen them live on this tour but it must be weird to be a casual fan and have them play TOCS and then immediately go into Teeth, ha.

Ignore my ramblings; it's a fine song I just don't think it works well as a lead single or in a live setting, but clearly they are digging it so I'm happy for them.

 

They end the TOCS set with a sludgy, low tuned breakdown that sticks out from the rest of the last song. I thought it was Pneumonia at first but it sounds new. Wonder if it's a snippet from the upcoming album as well.
