Monday night wars/attitude era was a time damn. NWO, DX, the rock and stone cold merch was EVERYWHERE. Even the Vince doc goes into WHY they moved on from the attitude era and more towards a family oriented product but tbh I don't think they'll ever reach that high of popularity ever again.

 

MTV Spring Break had Hall & Nash. Wrestling was a BIG deal.

Speaking on the attitude era, nothing will ever top singing a long to the Outlaws theme and music. I’ll also never forget the first time I got put on the fence for the whole recese period when I was 9 because I told a kid to suck it

Just got back in dry land so I’m going to beat the horse a little bit. The injury time thing sucks regardless of what company does it. And who cares if he was negotiating, realistically once you are at that level there’s really only one other place to go. I think the reason AEW is catching so much shit about it now is how they acted and bragged about how different they were going to be and it ended up not being the case. Like the insurance thing too making it sound like everyone was going to have insurance then having to clarify. So I think fans were like yeah we have a moral alternative and then they were just like WWE and other companies. At the end of the day they are gonna be fine

 

The Outrunners won the tag titles at my local promotion last night apparently, think Jinder won their main belt too.

The Trish barking story is obviously vile, but knowing that Ashley Massaro rejected his advances and got punished on TV for it and the impact it must have had on her mental health? Jesus. If there’s a hell, it’ll be too good for Vince.

 

Well the far bigger impact on her mental health was WWE covering up her being raped on a military base in 2006 which the doc didn’t bring up at all. The poor woman was absolutely destroyed by WWE.

 

One thought I kept having to the Vince doc is that I wonder if Shane saw Succession and was like:

Yeah, its also something that basically no show will ever reproduce anymore simply because media is so fractured. Like even when The Big Bang Theory was pulling monster ratings, they were getting 3-4% of the viewing audience. RAW did 8% that episode where Nitro was pre-empted. Pretty much only the NFL pulls those kind of numbers anymore (and even then, thats just the national games)
