This is a mean comment but I honestly thought Jean Smart was gonna be better on this show

The writing hasn't been great but she also hasn't been performing very well

I get the vibe this just isn’t her thing. I imagine it’s gotta be tough for anyone 70+ to take on, even if you’ve done live theatre.

  10. I think she’s been great, she did well in the game show sketch and was the rare example of a host just straight up not even looking at the cue cards during the Scholastic one, which also had some low key great physical comedy from her basically assaulting that chair lol

The brat thing was clearly not her thing though

The fact that Bowen actually just appeared in that for like two seconds made me lol solely for the reason that he was in like literally everything tonight

nate bargatze and the writers for next week do not at all have their work cut out for them

  19. I dunno, he doesn’t have the completely dominating presence she did imo. He’s in a lot of sketches but is often just a supporting character. Though like tdlyon said, his role in that Santa Fe sketch could’ve gone to anyone else so idk

The role of the host for the sitcom sketch could have also gone to Longfellow or something

  21. Yeah, that role pretty much goes to Kenan like 100% of the time so it was nice seeing someone else in it, but it also coulda been literally anyone with less screen time opportunity. Show loves to shoot itself in the foot

Dana Carvey did the best Biden impression on SNL to date imo. The king.

Looking back, I think one of the problems was a lot of the skits felt like they had no heightening. They just felt lazy.

The Halloween Express sketch was just every meme we had about the store for the past 15 years. Why not add some additional angle to it to make it fresh like that Super Bowl Wing Pit ad?

The Charli XCX sketch could have been fun if they made her more into a character like they did with Dakota Fanning and her talk show. Instead, it relied on the audience knowing who Charli is when a generous amount of them, I imagine, probably have just heard of her or brat summer, in passing.

    Things have changed.

I laughed out loud at the Mark Robinson stuff because he's terrible, but zoned out of most of the rest.
