It’s definitely opened up WWE as a much more viable option for wrestlers that didn’t want to deal with his BS. There’s still some stuff that HHH does that is very Vince like but it’s still worlds better than before when it comes to the culture.

The post Covid wrestling scene is quite insane. Never thought WWE would sell out everywhere and even AEW drawing 3-4K for Dynamite and 6-10K for PPV’s consistently is insane considering in 2019 WWE was drawing 3-4K for TV and a few PPV’s.

Learning about Vince's Logan Roy-esque pathos makes me even happier that this is how he went out.

Seeing Vince get salty about not turning Hogan heel is hilarious

I laughed when he had to clarify that his character was the one that wanted to impregnate Stephanie, not him himself.

    Successful financially? Sure.

Never been as popular I’m gonna firmly disagree on. Which is fine, they’re never gonna back to where they were but the numbers they used to do and the stars they created back in the day DESTROY today lol

Like the top 10 highest rated episodes of Raw ever happened within like 7 months of one another. Love me some Roman Reigns but his main stream appeal is nothing compared to wear the Rock or SCSA or Undertaker were.

Yeah, I can't see wrestling ever getting to that height of popularity ever again. It was wrestling, Pokemon, and Spice Girls that ruled the world. You could throw a rock blindfolded and hit someone who knew Stone Cold.

  17. Yeah I only care about the money part of it because comparing tv ratings then and now is futile

  18. I just feel like wrestling is more a part of or accepted in popular culture today too

It’s not really futile when they were beating Monday Night Football routinely back in the day and that’s when MNF was on ABC. They were also a private company until October of 99 and the TV rights weren’t insane as they are nowadays so money isn’t really a good indicator of popularity.

Not even close dude. In 98/99 everyone was wearing NWO/Stone Cold shirts. That shit was as mainstream as it gets. I love Roman/Cody but they are nowhere near the stars Stone Cold, The Rock or even Hogan were back then.

It’s all good. WWE’s popularity now days is quite crazy! Like I feel like a lot of people that like WWE only enjoy a few acts or follow it casually but they will spend money to go see it live. Comparing it to the height of the Attitude Era where even lower mid card guys were insanely over it’s an odd comparison between the two eras.

The one thing I will say about both eras that is similar is the crowd eats even those most mediocre shit up. Like a lot of the Attitude Era was pretty bad but fans still ate that shit up. I feel like WWE is in the same position now where they don’t even have to be that good. The Bloodline, CM Punk and Cody basically carry the company regardless of the everything else. (I’d even argue Cody has been booked pretty week after winning the title but he’s still crazy over)
