Instead of calling him President can we call him grand wizard, just for clarity

I know they are wrong. They are definitely wrong. I am just shocked that these are the people who seemed so serious about caring and fighting for one another. Now it seems like normalizing his bs has already even made them start to move right and make excuses for their trump voting friends and coworkers/try to tell me it will not be so bad. Seems like just accepting it and focusing on how you don't have to pay taxes now is the most privileged thing you can do.

    I'm just shaken.

Unless they are making a ton if money their taxes aren't going to get any lower.

Maybe the IRS will finish their audit and find flagrant tax fraud, that's how they got Capone. Maybe they could charge him with something.

Like, I keep thinking about those kids, seeing them seeing us. Fuck. And I keep thinking about having to be honest with them, with my nephew. I have to tell them that these fucking crackers would rather burn this country down out of rage at their circumstances than live beside them.

This is going to be an unpopular and admittedly to some extent uninformed opinion but while the demonization of Trump should continue I think it's time to move on from his voters. You'll only drive the ones who arent terrible, that voted for him for selfish but reasonable reasons, farther and farther to that side.

Trump statistically dominated in areas that are economically suffering the most or are at high risk of economic collapse (ie factory towns that will collapse when that factory closes). It's hard for some people to look past their own problems to see that the person who is supposedly going to help them is going to make life harder for others.

The answer to these people, the ones who ARENT inherently racist, who I still want to believe are a sizeable part of his voters, is empathy for their problems. I'm dont have the link to it right now but there was a cracked (I know, I know) article a week or so before the election about poor whites in rural areas being sick and tired of the left in this country responding to their cries for help by pointing out how much worse minorities have it. It's objectively true but doesn't do anything to improve or excuse their situation, anymore than genocides abroad are an excuse to ignore Police Brutality at home.

idk I'm probably wrong but just something to think about. We can't do shit to help anyone if we can't win some of those people back, and it's only going to get worse as the urban/rural divide gets worse.

Oh, and this is a criticism of myself as much as anyone, but remember how we spent all that time talking about income inequality but laughed at Gingrich and the GOP when they said people didn't "feel" like the economy was improving? Anyone else realize much much later (for me it was a couple weeks ago) that those are the same fucking thing? That it doesn't feel like the economy is improving to them because their job prospects and their wages aren't improving, which is exactly what we railed about?

Fuck I have a lot of soul searching to do

I'm white(Hispanic but definitely white) and I don't think I can look at whites the same. I'm constantly thinking about it even I see random people at work or out places

Yeah realizing that such a large part of our country cares so little about the human rights of POC is really getting to me. It's not like I didn't already know but being faced with it in this way is...different somehow. And I keep thinking that even the white people who didn't vote for Trump still don't realize what POC are going through in this country. I mentioned my parents legal status to the (white) guy I dated and he said "can't they just become legal?" He's not a Trump supporter or anything, but the ignorance runs so deep that I can no longer convince myself that one day white people might understand. And in a country where whites are still a majority, that makes me feel really alone.
