This is getting released on digital on demand tomorrow. Basically the concept of this doc is they took politicians, former west wing staffers, and generals and had them war game as the WH Situation Room in a "Jan 6th but they use guns this time and factions of the military side with the far right" scenario. Looks pretty interesting.

Former governor of MT Steve Bullock as POTUS. Former Senator from ND Heidi Heitkamp as senior presidential advisor. Former senator from AL Doug Jones as Attorney General. Retired general and former presidential candidate Wesley Clark as chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. Longtime neocon conservative political operative Bill Kristol on the opposing force.

 

Also she’s literally saying she’s doing lesser evil voting so she obviously doesn’t think the parties are the same. This is just a bad faith take meant to shame anyone who doesn’t gush over liberalism

He’s not saying it’s going to happen, just that it’s a scenario that’s not that hard to imagine, and he’s correct. Just look at the campaign the Dems are running! Kamala pushed the lab leak theory, nobody can even come to a full throated defense of the Haitian community, Kamala is still out there talking about the infamous border bill, and - oh yeah - they condone genocide and indiscriminate mass killing.

None of that, to the amount that it's true, points to a "muslim ban in 4 years" lol. Or, at the very very least, I would definitely be "surprised" if it happened. It wouldn't even make sense in the context of the immigration debate, which centers around the asylum system being overwhelmed and not funded enough, and mostly dealing with influxes of central and south American immigrants. What or where would a muslim ban even come into play there? ISIS isn't even really a thing anymore which was Trump's very bad justification for his.

 

Strikes me as very much a "people will say anything on here" moment tbh.

I don’t think Hasan meant for that post to be taken as literally as you are taking it and, respectfully, I feel like you’re willfully ignoring the point. I don’t think anyone actually thinks Dems are going to be pushing for a Muslim ban in four years, but they’ve been shifting right on everything else, so why not. You think they’re going to speak up if Momodou Taal gets deported for protesting genocide? They can’t even talk about abolishing the death penalty anymore even after a glaring reminder of its barbarity.

No I think most people knew even Democrats are hardcore Israel supporters, I don't think outside of bad faith right wing attacks to paint them as antisemetic that anyone thought any different tbh. No admin in the last 30 years has refused to give Israel arms for anything as far as I can remember, I don't think most people would expect it to start now because of Israeli attacks. I do think most people would be surprised if the Democratic party decided to ban certain immigrants because they're Muslim, though.
