In tenth grade English class, we had to write an essay on who we considered a hero in our lives. This was right after the season three finale.
    I picked Charlie.
My teacher read it and was like…ok, I can agree with you on that.

I didnt even know it was on Netflix. I’ve been watching on Hulu this whole time dealing with annoying ass medication and election commercials

  6. End of season 3 is so spectacular. "Greatest Hits" and the two-part finale is a perfect run of episodes.

The only two filler episodes so far have been the Nikki/Paolo episode and the Rose/Bernard episode - assuming Nikki and Paolo were officially buried alive, and now dead lol. Def prefer the Rose/Bernard stuff - wish they’d utilize them as characters more! Their scene when they decide to stay on the island made me tear up.

Well, depends on how you define filler, but the creators have gone on record that the tattoos episode was very deliberately made to show the network how bad the show could get if they kept dragging it out.

You should also know, after watching the season three finale, that that was the first time we as an audience were made to wait more than a few months for the next season. Seasons 1-3 were all the standard “premieres in the fall, finishes in the spring” seasons of network television. Then when the Producers of the show negotiated with ABC halfway through season three to end the series after six seasons so that they could write toward an end date, we were made to wait just over eight months for the next season. Seasons 4-6 are shorter and always premiered in January/February of the following year so the waits were excruciating. Sort of funny to think of now when a show like Stranger Things is heading into its fifth and final season and by the time it finally airs I’ll have been watching the show for a decade.

That one episode wasn’t great but also not outright terrible. Like I said, left me with some questions about the cultural logic of Jack’s whole experience, but yeah.

The cultural logic is that the writers were running out of flashback ideas and decided to write something absurd on purpose using Matthew Fox's real tattoos as "inspiration".

I even remember the promos leading up to it were like “ONE OF LOSTS BIGGEST QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED!” As if anyone gave a shit about the tattoo origin story

A few into S4 and thank you to @manoverboard365 for switching me from Hulu to Netflix for this show—the lack of commercials is a game-changer.

Hoping for John Locke’s redemption. Love his character too much for him to become a “villain” but I don’t think he will be. Still not sure how the fuck Ben got his dad on the island.

Wild how much better LOST handles the flash-forward stuff than Yellowjackets, by keeping things mysterious and reigning it in more (I still like that show but the comparison begs to be made).

Jack’s line, “That’s what they say, that’s not what they mean,” is clearly written to seem profound, but sounds absolutely ridiculous in the context of how bad the episode is

Watching “Stranger in a Strange Land” nowadays is worth it to me if only for all the time spent building up to that line. It’s like the, “You’re tearing me apart, Lisa!” of LOST

season 4 was different from the other seasons in that it was much shorter and they changed the format to mostly flash-forwards instead of flashbacks, and a lot more of the characters have died (missing Charlie and Mr. Eko :verysad:) or became less present. great stuff but I do sort of miss the character-driven stuff, as it seems things have become much more plot-driven and there's a lot more straight-up action.

regardless I loved The Constant, Ji Yeon, and many of the early episodes, and appreciated the time spent catching up on Michael's (tragic, and frustrating) story. heartbroken by Jin and Michael's supposed deaths in the finale, Sun's reaction, Sawyer jumping off the helicopter to let it reach the boat. the island teleportation scene is fucking wild. desperate to know more about Richard, Jacob, Claire and Christian in the cabin, all that business. and why tf is John Locke being called Jeremy Bentham?

something I don't quite understand is how Aaron is being fed without Claire around - come to think of it, they never really show or discuss breastfeeding throughout the whole series. seems like a big logic hole?

also I'm stumped on the scientists who join Widmore's people and their overall purpose. I like the characters, but they've offered only red herrings so far.

Season 4 was also a victim of the writer's strike of 2008. I believe it was supposed to be at least 2 episodes longer, and that the Michael story arc was supposed to be way more fleshed out.
