China's economy is cooked this time for sure

they're in the process of shifting away from imports as the US clamps down and into exports, which is about to explode. 9% growth in August year over year. but of course import growth is slightly less than projected so yes they're probably doomed

the worst case scenario here is that public services for immigrants to urban areas will be underfunded. in which case-- gasp-- the Chinese government might intervene in the economy, at least until they can cover for the import to export transition. I just don't see how they're gonna get out of this one. any day now

China’s economy has shown considerable resilience, especially with its shift toward exports. However, reform is vastly needed for Xi to see long-term stability. I agree that an addressing regional inequality and better funding public services (especially for migrant workers) is dire. China also needs to reduce its reliance on sectors like real estate.

However, it’s unclear whether Xi will prioritize these reforms. The focus seems to be on short-term export growth and maintaining control.
