would it be better to start a new thread and have the first post as an index of each state/geographic area and discussion on organizing there?

To be fair, I don't think anyone ever argued they were the same. There are differences between democrats and republicans. Only people with little grasp of electoral politics argue this. Most people were saying that they're on a continuum of bad policies that would directly hurt people precisely for the reasons that have been enumerated, e.g., Hillary represented managerial liberalism that was detached from what people on the ground needed. That is something that should be taken away from this.

fwiw, from everything i've been hearing from the insurance experts at the school, the age provision is pretty popular on both sides and will likely stay in whatever becomes the new system, which it seems will just be a reversion to pre-ACA times

This is a question that @David87 could answer better than I could, but there are pros and cons to teaching like any other career. Speaking only based on the experiences of my parents, it is an exhausting job -- physically, emotionally, and financially. Some states are better than others for paying teachers, so it really depends. Low pay is somewhat made up for in retirement/great health care.

My parents didn't feel that the education system in place before they retired allowed them to teach effectively, and they had to base their lessons around standardized tests. It was very disheartening for them towards the end, but I'd imagine you'd get sick of any job after 30 years.

I wouldn't base your career decisions on your parents recommendations haha. My parents are actively discouraging me from pursuing it, but I'm ignoring them. Teaching is meant for a very specific type of person, and in my opinion you should be entirely dedicated and passionate about educating before you go into it. If it helps, I graduated with an English degree and felt like I never was going to get a job, but there are plenty of entry level positions you can go into with a Liberal Studies major. I got a job in PR and it was bad but it paid the bills and it helped me realize it was something I DIDN'T want to do. Just apply for anything and everything (you probably know this already). Something will happen for you, and it might not be the right thing but ya gotta fail at some things to find what you're good at, you know?

You think they're going to wait until they have a law to replace it to repeal Obamacare? I don't. THEY don't. It could take years to put together a replacement, I'll be shocked if Obamacare makes it out of Trumps first 100 days

My sister (she's 15) just posted this to facebook and it breaks my fucking heart because my parents have the television to Fox News all day every day and she's being brainwashed into believing this bullshit. I tried to explain to her the situation and I hope she can start thinking a little more critically and not just puppet whatever bullshit my asshole conservative parents spout.

My brother is 12 and he barely understands politics at all, but to hear him say he's glad Trump won and celebrating, because of the shit my parents watch and tell him, it breaks my heart.

  14. Heh.

Those that swing an election get the coverage and the pandering I guess. Wonder how much Trump will help them? Or the people he said were living in hell?

I can't directly choose whats playing when I'm not on the same wifi, just add stuff to the playlist and watch the playlist count down. Otherwise I'd have switched it to repeat already.

i don't? i didn't say that? all of the health law experts here and their connections are saying there are no plans for a new trump plan. they're just ... repealing ACA and it will go back the the pre-ACA system. however, it won't be a full repeal. the provision where you can remain on your parents insurance until you're 26 is popular enough on both sides that it will likely remain.

  22. Yep. And they swung an election and now have a god damn inordinate amount of political clout.
