The appointments / leaks alone are basically the culmination of my argument that there were real differences that mattered between the candidates.

 

Reason number infinity why I hate the electoral college

 

The party in power, overwhelming power when you account for state level control, benefits immensely from the way the system currently works. The electoral college isn't going anywhere. First past the post voting isn't going anywhere. The system is working as designed, and the design is awful if you like peoples votes counting equally.

 

Like I said yesterday, I'm sure the EC seemed like a good idea with 17 states. With 50 it's beyond convoluted and unnecessary

 

The normalization continues. It'll be swift by the media. They'll treat him like a regular candidate. Same with his kids.

It's up to all of us to not let that happen. To not let his "brand" succeed. To not let his family's name continue to profit.

Glad we pushed for that blind trust and tax returns though.

Hope everyone that was obsessed over banal emails and was denying the campaign talking to Russia at least admits they were wrong there.

Is being a teacher really that bad? I have a BA in Liberal Studies but don't know what to do with it. I only majored in it because I didn't know what I wanted to do in life and thought it was a good, well-rounded general degree. Turns out I was wrong. I've been looking for any college level job for over a year now with no success. It's unbelievable. My parent's say I should just pursue a teaching credential since it's in demand and I get entire summers off.

In my slight bit of joy for the day, we use a shared spotify playlist at work combined with a chromecast audio to play music for the developer/designer lounge and this morning I added a rick roll to the playlist. I'm not at work today, only work 3 days a week until my classes are done in January, but I've been slowly watching the playlist count down to it and it's up in 3 songs.

But - my FB newsfeed is unreal, with pictures of white guy being beat up by black guys because they thought ht was a trump voter, I see kids walking out of class in protest, I see protests, I see looting... I see so much negativity.

I did not vote for Trump. But I had to explain to my pissed off 16 yr old daughter, that he was voted in, and for 4 years, he will be our president. Go about your daily life now.

And she sees the same newsfeeds, and is wondering, I am sure - what can she do? Does she need to do anything?

We will not be deported. We will not lose anything. Our friends? Well, I dont know. So what can i tell her?
