Please come into teaching...especially if you wantto teach social studies. Need more smart people teaching social studies.

One class I was in yesterday the teacher discussed some election with them. He was doing his best to "remain nuetral" and basically glossing over how much of a racist campaign Trump ran...as I said yesterday this is a predominantly black school with an even split of latino and white students making up the rest. One latino girl in the class was not having it, and she crushed it out of the park when she talked about how it's not just his policies that are the problem, but the validation his followers now feel in their racism.

 

Don't worry. For black people, it is compulsory service in the police force.

More or less, but, as it stands, labor has to continue organizing right now, otherwise it will be steamrolled. It isn't a special interest, that needs to be recognized, it is an apparatus for democracy and there's a strong correlation between successful struggle in labor and more progressive values.

On the first day of class, he had us read a passage from A People's History by Howard Zinn and that changed my life. It is why I originally intended to be a teacher.

 

I wish there was a way to punish idiots like this...being suspended won't matter. Treat it like a sex predator where they have to be on a list. Racial predators should have all this shit on their record, and have to go door to door telling all their neighbors, it should affect their ability to get a job, where they can live...it should negatively effect every aspect of their lives.
