I would not be surprised if they had some weird shit like Jesus appearing to give advice to Trump in the Oval Office.

The actual title is The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection btw. Lol

I wonder how many people I know are gonna be hyped for that shit.

Would be funny if The Chosen ate its lunch a bit. But, unfortunately, “Sound of Freedom star Jim Caviezel reprises his role as Jesus” will probably be huge in a lot of conservative Christian circles.

I can definitely see it being huge considering how things have been and continue to go. Even if it sucks, they’ll just say it’s the best movie ever made and anyone who doesn’t like it just hates Christianity. Any talk revolving around this movie is going to be fucking insufferable. Lol

I feel like the sentiment for Passion of the Christ has cooled over the past 20 years. Like, I'm sure it will make money, but that felt like a very specific moment in time. Or maybe I'm just saying that because my preacher dad saw it like 10 times in the theater and now looks back, like "What was I thinking? That movie wasn't even that good. It didn't even tell us much about Jesus."

Yea, I don’t expect it to do anywhere near as much as the first one.

I do think it’s a fascinating American Christian cultural object that I’d almost wanna reexamine, if it weren’t for everything gross about the film itself and its key creatives.

Like. It’s wild that evangelicals decided to engage in religious self-flagellation via blockbuster snuff film. I remember seeing it as a teenager, and the heavy atmosphere afterwards being, like… idk, a particularly heavy worship service?

  10. I wasn't allowed to see it despite growing up in a pretty Christian household. I was 12 at the time and really wanted to for some reason.

I went to catholic school and they tried showing it in some classes when it came out on DVD. We didn’t even need permission slips but they made us get permission slips for Romeo and Juliet (1968) when we had to watch that because…boobs.

Our teacher did end up turning off Passion though because she thought it was too much and some kids were like traumatized. This would’ve been like 6th-7th grade btw.

I can only imagine (no pun intended) the amount of kids that were traumatized because their parents showed it to them because it was Jesus.

i think i've only seen clips of it. it came out when i was 9 but i believe my parents were willing to show it to me and my sisters. surprisingly there were a couple times when they screened the whole thing for our megachurch, but obviously we didn't go.

I feel like most people that wanted to watch it just watched it when it was online like 8 months before AMC decided to air it. They blew it from the beginning.

I had this in my queue for a bit because I am currently on season 3 of Orphan Black but I am still gonna continue to watch Orphan Black first then watch Echoes afterwards.

I love Friends and Schwimmer but if he starred in that movie, it would have tanked
