I know BPM is beats per minute, so I'd say it's safe to say BPS is beats per second. Even lowering a song (presumably titled Benchmark Rate) to 50 BPS means it's still gonna fill a dance floor.

It's what was expected and reflects that inflation has slowed (good) but unemployment is creeping up (bad). It lowers the base interest rates by 0.5%, which makes it slightly easier to borrow money, presumably for both people and companies, but ideally doesn't make borrowing money so cheap that it will spike inflation again.

One way this may directly impact you is that this basically means investment rates have peaked. So if you're in a high yield savings account that number will go down. I do the guaranteed 5% in robin hood that number will go down. If you wanna lock in a CD, today's the day because those will go down.

If you're actively investing, expect a general increase as the lower rates mean companies and hedge funds will be moving billions in assets since the transfer fees are lower.

Lastly, if there's any company saying that they can't lower prices due to inflation tell them fuck off it's pure greedflation at this point.
