Looking back I don't think I would pay $60 for it again but definitely get it on sale. As far as a completionist rating, its a fairly straightforward completion but loses points for coin grinding and some insane difficulty spikes.

I never had to grind for coins in Astro Bot. The challenge levels were difficult but pretty fair imo

loved the game a lot, need more games like it, and I hope it sells well enough for Sony to wake up and realize people want that and not 100 different live service games

 

It is really funny that Sony remade Demons Souls and not Bloodborne

I don’t know if I’ll ever beat Demons Souls

game frustrates me like no other and not in a good way

 

I might go back to it but every time I think about it I get bored

 

Like it’s a great looking game but every time I think about trying again I think about how I’m stuck at bosses in each world right now and how miserable each run back is

 

I just didn't enjoy most of the bosses and I'm a boss guy for sure. There were a few good ones but most were tedious and bad

The level designs were cool though

 

Yeah the levels look amazing and I enjoy them, I just hate the run backs through them all

the bosses I did do all felt very gimmicky and not fun so that also was a big reason for me dropping it, especially hearing it doesn’t get much better on that end

 

It’s a miserable and outdated experience full of gimmicks instead of actual skill checks. Also it suffers from an artless remake by a studio who didn’t get it.

Part of me wants to play it because I’ve heard it’s an easy platinum and I can add it to my belt of completed From games but most reviews are mediocre at best.

 

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is incredible so far. The level design, the sound design, the story, simply breathtaking

 

the run backs are definitely what kills it - like 1 bonfire mid zone or end zone is maddening. one of the biggest upgrades for DS1 was bonfire placement.

also the flame boss is as rage inducing as any From boss I’ve fought

 

it may be mediocre compared to other From games but it’s not mediocre. and some of the level design may still be up there for them too.

 

I will check it out for the giggles

 

I never played the original Demons Souls and it was the only game I had for PS5 for a while and got through it - I thought gameplay was fine and it looked gorgeous

 

Speaking of FromSoftware, anyone play Otogi? I played that for the first time last year. Thought it was decent, though not very challenging. It passed the FromSoftware vibe check though. Tonally, it's very much their kind of game.

 

I want Astro Bot to succeed so much that it makes Sony put out a new Ape Escape game

This. It’s a great game but it needs to do extremely well for SONY to foster it. I am hoping they do because there it’s a lot of fun.
