I create content for some of your favorite artists

Watching this with my gf who’s never seen it or has any idea of any of its pivotal moments.

we’re on episode 17/18 of season one and her best guesses so far are

they’re dead (obvious) and it’s all an elaborate reality tv program (out of left field)

S2 is starting off pretty out there lol. Still enjoying. I don't know why I expected it to mostly stay grounded in realism at this point - now it's starting to remind me more of The Leftovers. I enjoyed the meta argument between John and Jack about the button-rule being "a leap of faith"

Recently I am up to the end of Season 5 of my re-watch. All I will say going forward for you, I hope you’re up for a little science fiction in this show.

We're now at the season 2 three-part finale. Devastating to see Michael "compromised," as Sayid calls it. He might have the saddest arc of everyone so far. I'll be so upset if they kill him or Walt off.

Mr. Eko has out-Johned John and is now the true wildcard of the group. Dude speaks in riddles and is terrifying 90% of the time. Also pretty sad to see Charlie lose it for a moment, but seems like he's finding his way again. Though, TBH, if I were Claire, I'd never trust him again.

Still not sure wtf is going on with the Dharma Initiative. It's clear there's some social experiment going on, but I have no idea what it is. Or why they want the children. Or what the vaccine is for. Or why there are so many damn coincidences / twists-of-fate between the characters' pasts and what happens to them on the island - the numbers! Yemi's corpse in the plane! the prophetical dreams! Libby being institutionalized at the same place as Hurley! the healing power of the island! Ana Lucia driving Jack's dad around Australia! Some of these really test my suspension of disbelief, but I feel like there's something deeper at play; I really hope they address that at some point, even if it's just verbalizing it and not necessarily explaining it.

This is such a great show. It does so much. It's incredibly ambitious and unpredictable and, while allowing itself to be messy, it manages to bring forward order and meaning in the long run. I can appreciate that. The premise is such that it opens up a million different paths, almost impossible to follow them all to their end-points, but it's the sprawl of the universe and the infinite layers of mystery that are more important. And that each episode grounds itself in a singular character helps with making it approachable on a human-level, while there being so many different characters to learn about. The experience as a whole is very immersive.

A few left in s3. Overall I'd say, while my love for the show has only grown, this was probably my least favorite of the three seasons thus far -- still great stuff, of course, but I found myself a little frustrated with all the time spent with The Others, Jack's decision-making/judgment skills, some on-the-nose villainous dialogue from Ben and the rest of The Others (which tbh verges on cartoonish at times). as I said, still great though, and genuinely on my mind all day until I can watch the next episode.

I do appreciate the airtime they've given Hurley, Sun/Jin, Desmond, Sawyer... but I miss the intense batshit stuff we had with Eko and Sayid's backstory, the vision quests with Locke, the evil number stuff with Hurley -- I suppose we get some of that with Desmond but the more psycho-spiritual shit the better IMO.

Absolutely loved the episode Hurley fixes the van. Also, the boat scene near the underwater hatch, with Desmond being willing to take Charlie's place - really beautiful moments.

Some questions I have had are...

    - how the hell does Kate go from dad-murderer on-the-run to pseudo-bank-robber with combat skills and multiple names? That transition is still unclear to me.
    - how does Juliet's "gift" contribute to her work with The Others? I'm not 100% on what exactly her theory is. I know she was able to "cure" her sick sister's infertility / impregnate a male mouse, but what exactly is it?
    - how are The Others able to orchestrate so much of what occurs in the outside world? assuming they are the ones who faked a 815 crash site. and how are they able to get John's / Sawyer's dad so quickly?
    - re: Jack's flashback. is that really a Thai cultural thing? not being allowed to get certain tattoos? (and wasn't it in Chinese?)
    - fertilization research... okay that's good and all but then why do they kidnap Walt? and all the other people?
    - not a question but insane that Jack and Claire are half-siblings who never knew it... and so are John and Sawyer lolll. there HAS to be a reason everything is connected.

Season 3 had some dips in quality but get fucking ready for the finale. One of my favorite episodes of television ever.

Oh also quick note that I’m pretty sure on Netflix they break the finale up into 2 parts.
It was a 2 hour episode and deserves to be watched that way. Don’t just watch part 1 and save part 2 for another night.
