I heard all the venues have a 2500 cap because the album flopped.

I mean it’s only like she has to move 20k tickets per market and they’re all big markets. This will do fine as long as it isn’t priced stupid expensive.

Apparently she was originally going to do stadiums everywhere and just some arenas in the states, but I’m glad they pivoted. I much prefer arena shows over stadium shows.

she has to be out with the two LA dates and a full US tour.

Looks like, based on routing, there is space for extra dates to be added so probably more cost-effective to have her do a 3-4 night arena run. Can't wait for these shows to sell out, more dates to be added and people still calling this era a "flop".

I think what she’s booked is probably it, and I’ll explain why.

I said it before, the album wasn’t necessarily a flop, but they really just aren’t doing ANYTHING to maintain any buzz around the album and then to announce a tour a year/over a year later is kinda crazy. A performance yesterday on the VMA’s would have been a perfect lead in to this announcement. The only popstar in the world who can go the no promo route right now is Taylor. She doesn’t need to be like on every radio station and every talk show, but at least some sort of promo would be great.

Maybe the shows will do great and I’ll eat my words though. All that being said, I also don’t see her doing Coachella.

All that being said (round two), I will consider getting a ticket depending on the price.

if she does Coachella, I will hopefully be there, but I don't think I'm gonna shell out the $$ for the solo tour stop

I wonder if they'll be some sort of Radical Optimism deluxe/part 2 that's out by then. These are dates for almost LITERALLY year from now which will mean this album is even more memory-holed at that point. I'm not gonna buy a ticket in advance as it's a year out but depending on price in the weeks leading up to the shows may check it out.

I feel like something has to come between now and the shows. And yeah, with the shows being a year away I’ll just hold off and see if they are cheaper closer to the show, I can’t buy tickets for a year out sometimes I don’t even know my plans a week out haha

She did deluxes the year after her last two albums, I’d say this getting one before the tour is a safe bet

Everyone that went to the FN tour with me has said the same thing, they’re going to wait and see till next summer if they go.

I hope scalpers take a fucking bath on this thing.

How did the Wembley shows in the UK sell? I don't think these US dates will have a problem going clean in advance but there just isn't the same hysteria that the last tour had.

  15. I can't find the right word as sad feels a bit too dramatic, but it's weird how much I'm unmoved by the announcement whereas I instantly got tickets for the FN tour and the album dominated my 2020 and even beyond.

I like Radical Optimism, I think it's a great record despite not meeting my (admittedly unrealistic) expectations but I've barely got the itch to revisit it since.

One Kiss at Anfield in Liverpool is going to be electric

it’s been the anthem for Liverpool Football Club during trophy celebrations since 2018 when Dua Lipa was the pre-match performer for the Champions League Final in Kyiv. Liverpool lost, but won the final the next year, and the song has stuck ever since, and a kinship of sorts has blossomed between Dua, Liverpool fans, and the club itself

It's not a flop, but it's also not the kind of album that can sit for a year and a half with no real push before a tour. Weird moves all around on this thing. I think they pushed the wrong songs.

I just now learned she replaced her management team from the FN era with her father, that maybe explains some of the missteps in this whole rollout.

She could’ve also just had personal reasons she had to do it this way. We don’t know because we don’t know her. We’re never going to know her. What’s the point of reading this much into it? She’s going to be okay. She won’t be hanging it up and be working at the mall because people think her dad is making her less popular.

Wait her…..father is her manager? Does he have any history in the business or she just (presumably) trusts a family member more?

Sorry, I’m gonna be up all night worrying that she might have to settle with being a incredibly beautiful celebrity with a mountain of money that would take lifetimes to spend.

What does that information do for anyone? He could easily have no history and be a great manager and he could be in the business for 40 years and suck shit. It’s a single album cycle for fuck sake. You’re basically asking if her father’s resume is the cause for her nonexistent downfall. None of it matters.

It played out the way it played out and she’s going to keep on moving along. She probably just spent months lounging around on beaches in different countries with her celebrity boyfriend and friends, while some of you were the only ones worried about her career crumbling beneath her.

Unless she’s telling you herself, there is literally no reason to be speculating shit on why she did this or that during a new album cycle or trying to put blame on her father for shit. If you’re that invested in her career, find a way to get in touch with her and take over. Or just listen to her music and see her live when she comes around. Either way she’s never going to owe anyone explanations for her life and career. Let it go already.

  24. It’s a music forum… pretty sure discussing her career moves is fair game and it felt harmless to me so far. Idk

Not when it’s the only thing that they even bring up in this thread because they’ve been convinced she’s flopping and won’t be convinced otherwise. And yeah, asking if her father has qualifications to be her manager, so her recent career moves can be blamed on him, is a little weirder than just discussing her choices. It could have been her decision. It could’ve been her best friend’s idea to not do the tour right away for all we know. It’s speculating shit we’ll most likely never have an answer for just to have reasoning because some fans out there think she’s flopping.

But yeah that would obviously be fair game and be reasonable to discuss. Repeating the same stuff every other week about how she’s blown this album cycle is annoying.
