My Capitalism and Its Discontents professor today said that to him today is my generation's 9/11. The widespread fear, the feelings of uncertainty, the overwhelming depression, etc. That's where I'm at myself to be honest.

(obviously the pain isn't exclusive to my generation but we didn't really feel the full effects of 9/11 since we were so young. That's the comparison at least)

More importantly: Hassan also won. Senate will be 52/48. Which is terrible given a few weeks ago it looked like we'd be the ones with at least 52. But is better than 53/47...

Also important: Transphobic turd Mccrory is down 5k votes in NC. But I think that is within the margin for a recount. Still gotta be better than him being up 5k votes in NC.

If I was a leftist activist organizer i'd be working on a new larger scale version of the Occupy Movement right now. Conservatives had the Tea Party set up months after Obama got in office, I can't see why the left shouldn't do the same given the current climate.
Take all the energy and passion from the Bernie campaign and turn it against Trump full force. Give the right some of its own medicine.

Listening to Common's "Black America Again," it's so depressing to hear his optimism about Trump being defeated on "Letter to the Free."

worked on a protest letter today because the Borough of Land Management authorized oil and gas leasing on Ohio's only national forest. The current administration didn't get enough criticism for that, but I couldn't help feeling much more hopeless in the face of the all out war on the environment that's coming in the next 4 years. its going to age me severely.

talking with several Trump supporter friends who just straight up are ignoring everything i say about the recent swastikas showing up in Philly and the fact that the KKK endorsed their candidate. honestly cannot comprehend this level of ignorance and mental dissonance

i've been holding back tears all day and even just typing that out made me break out a little. it's been tough. I can't stop thinking about the friends and family I have that this will affect.

Ugh. for people wondering what latinos would vote for Trump look no further than my family. who actually didn't vote for Trump, but they're very "why make everything about race?" And i can see how that mindset might permeate further into voting trump. never underestimate the desire for some poc to buckle under the pressure of white supremacy and want to desperately assimilate and be "accepted" even tho they'll never be.

  19. My branch of the family voted Hillary but there's an entire branch who want so badly to be seen as white that I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find voted Trump.

By Golly, we'll survive. Will it be bad? Maybe, who knows. But everyone is acting like Trump has doused the USA in gas and already has a lit match in his hand. The man may be slightly insane, but I don't believe he'll do anything life threatening for American citizens. Politics isn't life, it's only a part of life. Now, I'm going to play some Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 to take my mind off this, and I suggest we all take a step away from this because it will only irritate us even more.

Easy for to say if his proposals don't target you. If you're white, straight and male, they don't. Otherwise, yes, he will do things that are life threatening to many American citizens. People will die under Trump, because of Trump. I guarantee it

The mere fact that such a man was elected president has driven friends of mine to tears with fear. Suicides of LGBTQ youth have already happened because people are terrified of living in a country under him. He's threatening the lives of so many.

    Just quickly,
    1. He might take away their healthcare first thing, for starters.
    2. What about people who aren't american citizens?
    3. The unmitigated change in climate is going to cause mass starvation and unexpected natural disasters.
