I was gonna say this kinda sounds like something related/adjacent to the Smiley Face Killer(s) but I don’t remember a whole lot of details about the 10-12ish cases most associate with them. But then again some of the “targets” of the SFK are a bit broad so lots of missing college guys could fit the general criteria

 

They found his credit card today near a river.

 

It really reminds me of this missing person, the new Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix did an episode about it. He disappeared from a college party and has never been found.

This is apparently moments before they had his last phone ping.

 

This was the most likely outcome, but damn.

 

Will an autopsy at this stage even detect anything? Given he has been missing for two weeks, I would figure any drug or alcohol in his blood would be way out of his system by now.

 

As soon as I saw bridge I knew what happened, so sad.

 

No idea how factual/true it is but I’ve heard that sometimes an autopsy can still detect things/traces of drugs or whatnot in a body spending on how cold the water is and/or if it was in water the entire time. If the water is cold enough, it kind of delays/pauses part of the decomposition of a body. Again, no idea how true that is or if there are other circumstances that play into but because of how mild most of the country has been this winter I suspect his body wasn’t preserved / in that state since it’s been well above freezing for most of the last 2-3 weeks.

 

So I was writing a post about something lightly creepy and then my phone froze and died and rebooted in a manner it has never done before so I’m gonna take that as a sign that I shouldn’t post about it lol

say what you want about Zak and Ghost Adventures (I'm still a huge fan of the early years, now it's too dramatic) and I don't think I really believe in ghosts/demons/all that but jesus christ I was not prepared for the audio in these clips while wearing headphones lol. I went to the gift shop last time I was in Vegas, but was too scared to go in.

 

Lauren Lapkus has a new spooky podcast called Haunting. Very similar to Radio Rental, she's hosting as a character and throws to real ghost stories told by the people they happened to. Pretty fun, quick listen.

 

Anybody watch Expedition X? Josh Gates is llike the only one of these dudes I "trust" anymore because, despite the deceptive editing of the TV show (dramatic build up! commerical...oh it wasn't actually something spooky), they're usually pretty "Okay yeah we didn't find anything here" types. But I have this episode on now where they went to the Eloise asylum in Detroit and holy shit some of the stuff that's happening in this is wild lol

There’s a YouTube channel of a dude who goes out and investigates abandoned buildings and the majority of his videos are incredibly eerie and he’s got guts going alone (insane to me) and nothing haunted or spooky happens, it’s just super creepy and terrifying to walk around abandoned places in usually scary as fuck neighborhoods by yourself (although he does say he carries a gun I think) but there was one video where he allegedly runs into a homeless person or maybe not a homeless person kind of doing the “stand in the corner from Blair Witch thing” and it’s scary as shit and the person doesn’t respond or react to him at all so he takes off BUT! Then he randomly decides to go back and give this person $20 to help them out and when he goes back the guy is gone so he bolts again and idk it just seems far too stupid for someone to actually do that lol so now I question the entire premise of what he does and/or how truly “alone” he is when he explores.

can’t think of the name of the channel to save my life but will try and find it later because they’re really cool videos just from an exploration standpoint.

 

I loved Destination Truth back in the day. Liked that it was half “we’re gona find the Aswang in the Philippines” and half fucked up travel show.

Gates is entertaining but it always weirded me out that he’d always pair himself with the young and pretty member of the team (there were a few different women over the seasons) and I think he dated them and eventually married one of them.
