These awards really don't mean anything, that's not even a good video

 

she just mentioned Travis in her speech and said everything he touches turns to gold, that was sweet

also told everyone over 18 to register to vote

 

Oh for sure. They haven’t meant anything in a long time. It’s an excuse to get big stars like Taylor there. That said, it might have been the best of the videos nominated. In no known universe is Billie’s “Lunch” video one of the best of the year.

 

it would be amazing for the voting board to actually do a deep dive into videos from artists who aren't the biggest on the planet, and made cool videos

 

They did it once for Jamiroquai and never again.

 

I really like that video! It might actually be her best music video. (Low bar from my POV, but still.)

 

I feel like artists used to take the VMA's waaaay more seriously in their performances and overall attitude towards the show itself, like Madonna, Prince, MJ, Britney, even Miley and it was a really cool show to watch and a cool thing on the resume to have as a performance but I think with the decline of MTV and the fact that a lot of big names don't even bother to show up (Ariana, Billie, Dua, Kendrick, Beyonce, Charli) it's not as exciting

 

It’s way more performance-based now. As said, the awards are just bait to get the artists there. No way Taylor, Chappell or Sabrina show up and walk away empty-handed. But absolutely no risks taken. They’re not breaking new artists or honoring low-budget work like they used to.

I thought this year’s performances and visuals tonight were pretty impressive. Megan was a solid host and the show was about as good as it can be.

 

That Halsey song/performance was really good and I am typically not a fan of Halsey's music, also Benson Boone was really great but I am also a sucker for that song

 

Taylor's first dress makes my boobs hurt

 

No way that piece of shit guitar was even close to $400, let alone $4k hahaha

 

But liek why tho, bc she endorsed Kamala?

I'm almost disappointed, he doesn't even smash it on the floor. Who the hell wrecks a guitar with a fucking hammer? Not very rock and roll

this was at an auction, so doesn't that mean bidding stopped at $4k? Did they bid with the caveat that they'd get to destroy it?
