I really liked about half of Freedom but couldn't get into War Music at all.

 

I'm gonna revisit both of them, all I remember for sure The Malignant Fire having horrendous production

 

When David says they didn't all agree on where to go musically, I feel like you can really tell on Freedom. It has some bangers but between the glam rock sounding songs and those where they were recycling their own riffs, the album as a whole felt off. War Music was a marked improvement to my ears, but I haven't revisited it in years either.

I think the best thing they've done post-reunion, and sadly the least known due to it being attached to Cyberpunk 2077 and done under an alias, is their SAMURAI stuff.

 

That reminds me of Jim Ward leaving or being kicked out of At The Drive-In in a similar manner. I do prefer the latter's reunion album but it's funny in retrospect how I have similar gripes about both's post-reunion work.

 

I totally forgot about those SAMAURI singles, gotta revisit those too

 

when Omar and Cedric's documentary is released, check it out. It goes into depth about ATDI and the reunion/Ward/etc.

 

War music rules. It’s just in your face the whole time. Feels like a distilled version of shape. Can’t tell me yelling “if you hear this you’re a weapon” isn’rlt awesome.

 

when is it coming out

 

No idea, it was acquired months ago and I haven't seen any announcement of release plans
