Hillary would've had to win 74% of Stein voters in Wisconsin, 21% in Michigan and 89% of Stein voters in PA (and assume the rest just stay hope) in order to change the 2016 results. So hard to actually say Jill spoiled the race as I don't think its reasonable to assume enough of those Stein voters still vote Hillary if Steins not in the race.

I do think conservatives know that "get people to vote for Trump" is not the only winning strategy -- there are people you won't be able to convince to vote for a republican but you would be able to convivence them to just not bother voting and that might be good enough. And when people are out there talking voting third party or not voting it can often be hard to tell the "still vote Harris in swing states only do it where you can send a message to the dems" folks from the "I legitimately believe Harris is just as bad if not worse than Trump" folks from the "I'm a conservative sowing confusion" folks

But like, ultimately its the candidates job to get people to vote for you. If "If you don't vote, Trump will win again" doesn't win up being a winning message... you're the one who was ultimately responsible for trying to convey that message.

yes I know they don't necessarily "spoil" elections, i don't disagree with your take. I just used the term spoil since that's what sophos34 used to go after me lol

There was a time during the 2016 election I was almost certainly going to vote for Jill Stein because I lived in a blue state and ideologically, I aligned more closely with her than Hillary.

A combination of wanting Hillary to have the biggest margin of victory as possible and the fact that realized Jill Stein didn't know how to run a competent campaign and held some questionable anti-science views swayed me away from casting my vote for her.

95% chance CT goes for Harris so I will be doing another write in vote for a fictional character. Still debating who to vote for.

It's sucks how much the party moderated on healthcare. In the 2020 primary you had many candidates calling for a single-payer, Medicare for all-like system. Then in the general election, Biden and the official party platform both called to achieve universal healthcare through a public option.

Now it's 2024, no public option. No universal healthcare. No plan that would actually treat healthcare as a human right.

the media better step up their game if they want Harris to match the general public unfavorability Hillary Clinton had 24 years into her political career
