Republicans control the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. They will control the Supreme Court. They control the vast majority of state legislatures and governor's offices. If your first response is "ehhh maybe he won't do anything" instead of trying to find ways to actively collaborate with and fight for marginalized groups who will bear the brunt of this bullshit, you are an extremely dumb or extremely bad person.

 

So I'm in a special ed position at a high school that is predominantly black and latino (about 15% white)....we had a senior student who I did not know die overnight from a gunshot.

Between the election results and that, it's pretty fucking somber around here today.

 

There's no money in that for her anymore, so I doubt it.

 

It was a giant piece of paper with green lasers pointing at it and the buttons were hidden under blank square boxes. Once I realized you press the square on the paper to move the laser over instead of the buttons at the bottom I was ok lol.

 

Bush winning again in 2004 hurt more than 2000. This hurts more than both. And I am pretty convinced he'll win in 2020. And I do think it's gonna be catastrophic for the next decade.

 

No way on earth he wins re-election. But then there was no way on earth I thought he'd be elected as well, so who knows.

 

Warren feels like Kerry all over again and I can see it all playing out again.

 

We are forgetting the worst part!!! He gets to choose a supreme court justice, which is for life!! And looking at the age of the rest of the justice a possible 1-4 more seats!!

 

Gotta get ready to actively support the rights of marginalized people. It's a certainty they'll be under 4 years of attack. Never been a politically involved person, but it's going to be impossible to stay that way now.

 

2016 has been the year of the impossible actually happening:

- brexit
- a Cleveland sports team winning a championship
- Chicago Cubs winning the World Series
- Donald Trump elected President

 

gonna be catastrophic for literally like 3 decades. scotus is gonna flip back to thomas and scalia types, house is lost. we're looking at another reagan era of poisonous capitalism and religiosity

 

No I'm not forgetting. It could legit change the course of this country for the rest of my life. One of the reasons I said fuck it and got behind Clinton cause I really think it matters. I'm fucking terrified of what that means.

Realistically, how hard will it be for them to pull off the worst-case-scenario stuff: overturning Roe v. Wade, invalidating gay marriage, etc.?

 

The only good thing coming out of this is that we finally get to hear "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin"

 

Jaded and cynical is all I feel. Hopeless. Obama made me actually excited again. Then let down. And now just pure depression.

There's nothing I'm not worried about at this point. I fear for our national security, our environment, our economy, our citizens, our internet, everything.

 

So, if I were a Trump supporter, I would already be immediately pissed given his conciliatory tone and kind words regarding Clinton last night. I thought one of the first orders of business was to "lock her up"?

Also, Trump supporters should be expecting two other major things that I truly believe got him so many votes:

1.) Roe v. Wade should be overturned. If it doesn't happen, stop bitching that the Democrats are all "baby killers".
2.) A great big goddamn wall forever keeping Mexicans out of America.

 

Like I said, his cabinet will be even scarier.
