It seems the difference between Netflix & Apple's strategy is that yes, Apple is pulling back on wide theatrical releases for movies like this, but it's more so due to the fact that Apple does not want any bad press at all. Argylle was a fiasco and they don't like bad box office and critical reporting being associated with Apple's brand. The difference with Netflix is they see theaters as an existential threat to their business model of "come watch our slop on our app and stay home forever".

Something like F1 they have confidence in being a hit both commercially and critically so that is staying put on the summer calendar.

 

just got back from the theater on this. my brother is in the dance scene at the wedding, so it was pretty wild to see him on the big screen! that obviously skews my judgement a bit, but really enjoyed the movie

 

honestly was pretty fun

 

Sadly wasn't playing anywhere near here, so looking forward to it on AppleTV+ on Friday.

 

This movie should have been more fun. Too much action maybe?

Just watched last night, pretty mediocre.

That's a shame, as I very much enjoyed the film, as did the rest of my family.
