I wanna feel like I feel when I'm asleep. Prestigious

Most of my teachers never had kids while teaching lol.

I’m apathetic about kids. Have em if you want just don’t ask me about them.

Yeah most of my friends have kids or are about to and I enjoy being the cool uncle but I just personally couldn’t do it. Kids are fun though.

I was in a similar position; my youngest sibling was born when I was 13, so I got to experience all of the little stuff while a teen. It got super surreal when I met my wife, as she already had two kids, one of whom was 5 months older than my brother. Made for some awkward times at first, but now we're super close—love those boys—made for great men in the end.

I’ve got 2 sisters (7 and 14) and I love them and all the time we get together. I’d like to have kids one day in the future but I won’t until I have a lot more money

I'll be a great uncle someday because I genuinely care more about Bluey than most adult nonsense

Kids are exhausting and stressful, but then you get moments like these and it completely resets you as a parent.

lol that's awesome. I have vids of my boy screaming "Feeling this!" to blink and jamming out on a pretend guitar to Creeper. I feel like I'm setting him up to be the weird kid that likes "old" music but whatever he's still young, I'm sure when he gets older his friends will get him into terrible music that I'll hate

Both my younger brother and Kaitie’s older brother have kids and they live far away so I never see them or get to be an uncle which is how I prefer it. We only have one friend couple that has a kid and ngl I dread when we make plans with them knowing they’re gonna bring a baby out when we’re just trying to get dinner and catch up.

One of the contributing factors why I moved from FL earlier this year. It was getting out of hand.

Starting to see a pattern with China bullying its neighbors in the name of “territorial integrity”

Nvm the fact that China signed UNCLOS which states every country has the rights to claim up to 200 nautical miles from beyond their territorial sea as their EEZ…and the shoal falls within the Philippines’ EEZ.

    Hypocrites.

    re: kids

My wife and I wanted to have a kid when we first got together, but over time we’ve reversed course and don’t want them for a multitude of reasons, but the biggest one is the financial impact, which for the supposed greatest country in the world is a god damn travesty and failure of the system. I don’t want the stress of “oh we’ll figure it out.” One of us would likely have to quit our job since it would be cheaper than daycare. Respect to those who are making it work, I just can’t do it. That’s why I give a huge side eye to anyone saying our generation should be having kids, you gonna support them??

Until we take climate change seriously I’ll never even consider giving anyone grief for not having kids. Not that I would care if someone had kids anyway, but it’s almost cruel to have kids at this point given what they might have to live through.
And if I ever had any hope that the effects of climate change would be handled as humanely as possible that’s been extinguished by watching our country help commit genocide when it would be so easy to just not

Then you have the gop weirdos like JD Vance lamenting people’s lack of having kids and trying to turn women into breeding centers or something and offering literally nothing to make it more affordable and doable. Like they sneer at the student loan debt forgiveness while not realizing that it’s probably one of the top 2 reasons why millennials aren’t having kids as much/earlier. Between that, childcare costs, and housing costs, how do they expect people to have kids even if they want em? Granted housing costs are more variable but the other two can be very easily addressed with policy they refuse to support to pass.

We were pretty worried about the costs of childcare but luckily it ended up not being nearly as bad as we thought it would end up being. Like, it was still expensive, but there were some reasonably priced choices around here. We got quoted as high as $1700ish(or maybe higher?) a month and as low as $900ish. Big caveat though was our state passed paid family leave and were both teachers, so with her 12 weeks paid and my 12 weeks paid and holidays and summers, were able to get through baby’s first year of life without having to pay for childcare. And then actually thanks to Covid it ended up being ~18 months as the daycare we did get both 1. Allowed us to hold our spot until we were comfortable or had to send him and 2. Didn’t make us pay until he actually came. Place was fucking great.
